Well, in the USA it's Flyin Ryan Dungey in 2015.
In The Old Country, ahhh........who is it over there in the 450s?
He couldn't do it on a 250.
But let me tell you, on that track, that day, Stew was just on another level of, well, everyone.
And where does your next group of riders come from? If there's this one super series that is only open to the worlds elite, then how do you become one of the worlds elite? With no U.S. nationals or World Championship to move into to develop and prove yourself as a rider how do you move into that top tier? In trying to answer an un-answerable question, you would kill the sport, not make it grow.
Not every other major sport has an undesputed best in the world. In fact very few do.
I don't think your serious or a real person. The 450 champ is the top dog in the sport and the other champion is being developed to hopefully be that one day. Nobody is confused other than you.

The next generation of riders comes from where it always has. Mini Bikes and Amateur racing.
But where are the young riders going to go once they come out of the amateurs?
There is no more expensive advertising to be purchased. Would you like some of that for MX? That is what growth means. Bruno Mars and Madonna halftime shows.
Guys like Bubba Stewart and Ryan Villopoto will have no problem working their way up in the Pros like always the cream rises to the top.
Does it occur to you that they might develop faster racing against real competition rather than running around 1/2 a lap ahead of everybody?
There is no way MX gets even a quarter as big as NFL, just not happening, ever.
as mentioned by several other posters.............stick and ball has nothing to compare to motorsports...........NASCAR is the only thing even close to NFL in the US and that has pretty much the same system as MX/SX
they were forced to go to "the chase" to try and maintain some type of competitive TV stats as the NFL starts at the end of their season
back in the day you werent even considered serious till you raced 500 GP's............dirt or pavement.........has nothing to do with why MX/SX is not as big as football in both forms
Welcome to the conversation Michael. I have a tremendous respect for your knowledge and testing abilities.
Pit Row
The other problem can never be fixed because both promoters like making money, but those two come from the 450 class as well.
Now when your friends and wife ask why is there 2 classes running the same speeds "who is the fastest?" what excuse do you use to justify it?
There is a natural progression through the sport on both sides of the pond. In America, from the amateurs, through the 250 class and into the 'premier' 450 class. In Europe from the amateurs, into the European and then through MX2 and into MXGP. It works well, and there is no reason to change it. Each stage is very competitive and more importantly is very good to watch.
