Kawasaki had an EPIC run with the 80s in KX80 82-84 and the KX125 in 83-85. My '84 KX125 was just a monster -- even though it was a year old when I got it.

It's been surprising to me that there are just not that many parts around for these bikes. Back in the day, I can't remember anybody riding 80s or 125s who didn't want a KX.

You can find way, way more stuff for the same size Suzukis of that time period -- and I can't imagine that Suzuki sold nearly as many bikes.

That is some amazing work there Paul. I tried restoring an '84 KX125 and gave up but you've done great work man.

Hi barkhard696
Thanks for the compliments. There are quite a few 84 KX around here in South Africa although I don't know anyone who has restored one. I didn't have too much problem finding parts for the 84 as the 83 and 84 are more or less the same under the skin
I bought mine in December 2014 and it was pretty much complete with the exception of the usual things being butchered for farm riding
I had a 84 brand new out the box in 84 and it was so good I raced it for two years and even won a championship on it in 85.
Once again thanks

Hi crickets one I just clicked now about the 83 KX on Racer X, I have that picture in my office and it was the inspiration for my resto, his bike is awesome, much better than mine, but he obviously didn't spare any expense as that bike is as good as new, I can only say that his is the benchmark and I tried to get my 83 as close to his as possible!!!
