Should we not hold races unless everyone is healthy? And if one rider gets hurt mid-season, we postpone races until that rider heals up so that that the championship is decided "with a full field"???
Staying healthy is just as much a part of a championship as corner speed, whoop speed and bike set up. Some riders have more corner speed than others, some riders are faster in the whoops, some can set up a bike better than others, and some are better at staying healthy than others. The guy that wins the championship is best at all of those things.
Those riders you mentioned (Villopoto, Stewart, Tomac) need to learn to manage their health better and stay off the ground if they want to beat Dungey.
how many series have those riders crashed out of? How many has Dungey crashed out of? (One SX season his entire pro career-the collarbone where he missed a few races).
And if Dungey didn't run out of gas in Texas, have that electrical problem at Southwick, and have his chain derail at that one supercross...his legacy compared to Villopoto's would look DRASTICALLY different.
And what is a full field? Last I checked, the gates have been full for every main event/moto...that's a full field to me.

Bradshaw
The “Beast From the East" had everything. He had the baddest bikes in the amateur nationals (multiple at that), full factory Yamaha backing, and looking back he was probably getting paid big bucks by the factory to race the big amateur nationals. He was the first person I remember to have a butt patch on an 80cc. It read “Public Enemy #1,” which struck fear in the eyes of anyone who dared line up against him. He was signed at just sixteen years of age to a full factory contract. The 1989 125cc East Region Supercross title was Bradshaw's only title. It was his first season as a pro and many expected it from him, and later on expected more. When the disappointment of expecting to win then doesn't happen over and over, it starts to take a toll on your mind. No one before Bradshaw had ever been groomed for superstardom more than he. After two comebacks Damon was done for good. He wasn’t exactly one that could have been, but was definitely one that many thought could have been more.
You've never seen guys flat out saying I hate RV on this board? RD is awesome, I just don't care for his style... it's that simple. I don't hate the guy but just can't get all excited about his wins either.
Diversity is what makes this place go.. so, I'm not an RD fan, lets fight about it
edit: you live in Japan?
To your edit: Yeah, I've been here just shy of 20 years.
Came here as an active duty Sailor in '96, met my now ex-wife and decided to stick around. Now that I'm not married, though, there's really no reason for me to be here, so I've been looking for a new job stateside lately.
Do you like it there though? Probably should PM for this just curious
Pit Row
Was db lucky in 1983 250 MX? Bob Hannah was fucking kicking ass
Was Wardy lucky in 1987 when RJ crashed in Anaheim SX and MI SX? RJ was unbeatable
Was Stanton lucky in 1989-1990 when RJ broke his wrist? RJ would of been the favorite to win titles to at least 1991 had he not destroyed his wrist.
Was Statnon lucky in 1992 when Bradshaw had a meltdown at Vegas, IN, and LA?
Was Emig lucky in 1997 when MC went to Zook and Zook's bikes were not up to par?
Was Reedy lucky in 2003 when RC blew out his knee?
Was Donnie Hansen lucky in 1982 when RJ blew out his wheel?
None of these champions were lucky...... you are a fucking beast when you win a title! No need to marginalize Dungey.
