Well, it does happen almost every year, but yes, seems like it would we'd lose a half dozen every year with how they are riding. A few street buddies and I just started planning a trip to ride the course and watch the race sometime in the next few years.

sad to see another death, but everyone that goes there knows the risk, and I like the fact it still goes on,

I have had a number of friends race there, and all said its a scary place, but still the most intense thing they have ever done, also new a guy that dies there, he worked his ass off all year to get the money to go back every year, met his wife at the races, and truly loved the place, RIP Dobsy,

I watched a documentary on the electric bike class there a few years back. Anyways, like 2 or 3 of the riders that were part of the documentary, then lost their lives on the track. I don't know how people do it.

I gave up road racing because of how dangerous the tracks are here, but they are nothing compared to the risk at Isle of Man. That place is so brutal, I don't even watch the racing there anymore.

Got a couple of good friends riding there , one is US racer MarK Miller who is there riding for Splitlath on an EBR 1200 , and Aussie David Johnson, who is riding for Smiths BMW , Davo is at the sharp end Miller not so much , but they will be giving it everything .

As a race , it is what it is , im not a fan, because of what can happen , but nobody makes these guys do it.

As a spectacle , it is beyond comprehension.

My work mate took a friend 2 years ago , they stood at the bottom of bray hill to watch , and as they get to their spot , they here a bike coming , turn to watch it flash by, and the guy goes crazy 'wow that just f^&^& nuts unbelieveable, '.. everyone just turns and looks at my mate pissing himself laughing, the bike that went by was one of the course doctors on a fully kitted medics bike ..

Check out the video on this link , from yesterday's practice

Barry sheene wasn't a fan either, I have followed Isle of Man on and off since the hailwood days, but you gotta say those mugs must have a huge set of nads!

Yeah , Dobsy was a good guy , loved the race and everything that went with it , been some great Kiwi guys over the years , Bruce Anstie can still win a race or two.

Kiwi's seem to be good at getting on anything and riding the wheels off them, Robert Holden was probably one of the best examples, also killed at the IOM,

That place is a man eater!

they say the top guys can do just as fast in the fog as in the clear, as they do things like count power poles to know where to turn in to corners, learning that length of track is just amazing,

We have a 30 mile highly twisty stretch of road in MO that I could probably run blind folded. Smile I think the TT course is a similar length. I have dreamed of blocking that section off and running a US TT race. Smile Pike's Peak is the only one I know of in the US (of any significance). A buddy and I are going to ride up Pike's Peak next month (not in the race).

I remember one year back in the 70's I think it was 6 riders that died during the TT races.

we have a number of street races here, but not in the country like the isle of man, they are in small town centres, normally under a minute in length for the superbikes, and mostly the 1000's dont get out of second gear,

i have raced 3 of them, (there are about 6 different ones) on a super motard bike, they are very fun, and intense racing in the motard class,

We have too many money hungry attorneys waiting for that to happen. Would be cool to see though.

Yep, never be anything more than a dream. Hopefully Pike's Peak lasts a while.

I had a bit of road (years ago) that I thought I knew like that. Then, one day I rode it in the dark in thick fog and guess what, I was terrifyingly lost! Distances and land marks are all being used without you realizing it. Take them away and it's like you've never ridden the road before.

That's true, even in the car, on my own street, right in front of my house. Smile

Im afraid that nobody has anything for the Bingley Bullett, he is back in a big way. Sad but another year and only podiums for Guy, Im starting to think that the complete package will never come to fruition. A bit disappointed to see Josh Brookes skip the TT this year and my darkhorse Peter Hickman is still trying to get back to form. Pity Dean Harrison cant even get a finish on the R6, the boy is young his time will come.

I have to say that I was starting to think Michael Dunlop was a jerk. But this TT has really changed my opinion of him. He is struggling through, clearly beat up and a couple of days ago during practice when his brother crashed he stopped to care for him.

he did that last year as well, the Dunlops are a tight knit group. funny you brought up jerk, because that's all Ive heard about him this past week with his team switch. Personally out of all forms of motorcycle racing, the TT is the one you need to be the most comfortable on so I dont slight him for his decision. It literally could be life & death. With his injury and the form of Hutch and Bruce I dont think he will get a victory this week. He is clearly the fastes if not one of the top 2 fastest racers in the world. a pleasure to watch and listen to.
