Just to sack up for that blows my mind. Pinned on a 450 and that bump on the lead in (second vid)? Respect. Pretty sure those kids can corner OK too.

Back when the OEM's sold 1 million dirt units a year, nothing like this jump existed on any track. Back then, even professional people like lawyers, doctors, etc. bought bikes for their kids and got them into the sport of motocross.

Nowadays, most parents see stuff like this and are about as willing to get theirs kids into BASE jumping as the modern sport of MX.

Great way to grow the sport fellas.

Does this stuff grow the sport on a participation level? Probably not

Do huge jumps grow it on a spectator level? Most definitely.

MX has an identity crisis. It is a participant sport that wants the popularity of a spectator sport (NASCAR)..............

Thanks for the 411 on that section. If it was such a good idea why was it only used for one race? No more pro races? Regarding giving fans what they want lots of car racing fans want to see crashes. BTW I wasn't blaming anyone or the promoters purely sharing my opinion. We don't have to agree and I can live with that.

Adding but I have been wrong before does not negate the fact that he feels he is saying this kid is only a proffesional practice rider. That's a jab at a kids ability IMO and that's why I brought it up.

In a related matter GrapeApe and lostboy and I frequently disagree Smile but these guys aren't anonymous posters like you (at least to date) who started posting here less than two months ago. I respect both of them and plan to buy GrapeApe a beer next year at Dallas SX and lostboy and I will hook up at Thunder Valley either this year or next. I also really hope I get to share a nice warm bath with both of them as well Silly

When is the next race you'll be attending so we can shake hands and have a couple of cold ones?

Hey Rock, I'll be at the Dallas round also, maybe we can get a vital meet and great set up. Would be nice to actually meet some of the other members here.

We can get enough of that in real life, and we come here for fun, and to talk with like-minded motocross riders and fans.

We do expect you to maintain at least a reasonable level of civility. Treat others the way you want to be treated. Don’t post things that you wouldn’t say when face-to-face with another person. So name calling, insults, and personal attacks are lame. So is keyboard bravery. We’d like the activity to be more like Bourbon Street at 2:00AM, not downtown Baghdad at 2:00AM. This stuff should be fun for everyone, not painful.

Show respect. Not only to each other, but when posting about riders, team personnel, officials, etc. If you can’t, don’t be shocked if you have posted deleted, or moved to other forums (like The Dumbgeon)

Language: In the past, the only word we used to c•ns•r was c•ns•rsh•p. We know that some of you like the freedom to speak your mind…but keep the language reasonable. We don’t want to be the language police. And remember, there are moms, wives, and kids running around here as well.

Rock, you do know that meaning is in people, not in words? Even though we think we know what we mean, it can connote certain direction in perceived meaning of discourse.

Back then, even professional people like lawyers, doctors and the SNL cast smoked mass amounts of weed and dabbled in other various illegal concoctions. Hopefully not while jumping though. Wink

Agree 100%. I flipped over the bars coming up short on some doubles and learned never to come up short on doubles. When i started out waaaay back on an XR80, I ran out of momentum on hills in third gear and learned to shift down.

Doubles and other jumps are just part of learning. If you don't think you'll make a big gap, don't do it. If you DO think you'll make it, do it, and if you crash, well--learn.

That's the sport.

Those who don't learn don't make it out of the gravel backroads. I had a buddy in high school snap his femur on a 25 foot tabletop in a friend's backyard; meanwhile, I was hitting 100+ foot single tables at a well-built track.

Jumps don't kill people, people kill people.

What questions would you like me to reply to because I don't really see anything where they asked for a response. I only see a lack of understanding of linguistics on your guys parts because adding in the last part of that sentence does not change it's meaning or intent.
I will be at Washougal, unless my mother passes before then.

You seem to think anyone that disagrees with you has some personal vendetta against you. That's not the case.

Apologize for the delayed response but I have been WFO. Case in point when I went to bed night before last I had only slept 14 hours over 5 nights. It's true it is tough to keep up with the big kids.

It appears you are on of the Kreskin types I have zero fondness for RE I seem to think etc. Here is a big tip for you: Things aren't always how they seem and for a fact you don't have ANY idea how or what I think nor do I know these things about you.

Your opinion has been duly noted on issue of your selective editing. Funny you reference linguistics when the issue I raised is more about your selective editing. From my perspective this has nothing to do with linguistics and everything about CONTEXT. To take this one step further to use your logic if it doesn't really matter then why didn't you include my full sentence like Razi and Thor pointed out. That's a rhetorical question and I am not expecting nor needing a reply from you since if were going to answer or respond to the questions posed earlier I believe/am of the opinion you would have by now.

I saved the most important issue for last. My heart goes out to you over your mom's situation. I just spent a week with my 83 year old mom (eyes are getting wet) and it scares me to my core each time I leave the world's coolest mom that it might actually be the last time I see her at least on earth. Living almost five thousand miles from her is tough obviously.

I have to hop in the shower to get ready for GH so will close by saying before I started this post I prayed for your mother you and your family. I prayed for God to give all of you the strength to get through such a difficult time. I will keep all you in my daily prayers.

Dude that is so profound. At first I was like WTH is this cat talking about but I also wasn't fully awake. It will probably a couple of more nights before I fully awake after the sleep deprivation I have experienced the last six days.

After addressing others posts to me I went back and read your post again. Not add sure I am smart enough or rested enough to comprehend it but in my present state of diminished mental capacity (even more so than usual LOL) i am impressed with your post. Have a great Memorial Day Weekend!
