2014 yz250f oil strainer leak

Peeps,

Recently my oil strainer has started leaking oil on my yz250f. Not quite sure what the issue is as it just started happening randomly. It has also started to seep out when the bike is cold and not running sitting in my garage. I have inspected the strainer and it seems fine. the one question I do have is that looking at the parts diagram, there is an o-ring that appears at the bottom of the strainer. Does this go inside the engine or does it stay around the outside of the plug. I also know that the o-ring on the strainer itself is in tact.

The O-ring goes on the oil strainer in a grove at the end of the strainer where it goes into the case. If it's not in the grove it will leak. It can be worn, cut, cracked and need replacing as well.

that's what I figured. I already have a new oil strainer and o-ring coming in this friday before race weekend. Also when I insert the strainer and secure it with the screw and washer it(the strainer) still has a little play back and forth. Is this supposed to happen?

I know this is incredibly late but I have to ask, did you ever figure out the issue?
