6D Nose guard

Anyone remove the nose/roost guard on their 6D? I want to trim mine, but when i pull on it like the manual says. "towards the eyeport and up" The guard feels as if it will rip or the mouth piece will crack.

I haven't, but my experience with those things is once they have been popped out they're a prick to get back and never stay when you do...

I took mine off and wish i didnt. If you take if off holes are exposed and dirt will get in there very easy. I tried to put mine back on but it would not stay so I had to glue it and now it looks like crap.
