Just finished a top end on a new to me 08 kxf. First test ride everything seemed good. Just fired the bike up to check everything over before heading to the track tomorrow and in first gear I have a rhythmic pop coming from the transmission. This only happens in first gear. Shifts fine and the sound stops when in 2nd or higher. Makes the same sound on the stand idling in first. No unusual noises unless in first with clutch out. You can see the chain hopping when it is doing it. Anybody have any ideas before I tear into it?

I popped the clutch cover and didn't see any debris. Also checked oil filter and nothing there. I just find it odd it was fine when parked last time and having this problem as soon as I fired up and crossed the yard today.

Sounds like a bad link in the chain. New chain should take care of it. Take off the chain and see if a link is stiff or locked up. I bet you'll find your problem there.

Did you replace the cam chain when you did the top end? Sounds like it might have to much slack
