Paid $15 for parking right next to the dome because I bought them online 3 days before the race on georgia dome website. Did take 45 min to get out and took me an hour to go .7 miles to get on I-75.

I was one of the ones that was hoping for 2 Atlanta races, but one at the beginning of the season and one towards the end of the season. Not back to back. Plus there was a LOT of bad weather in the surrounding areas so that put a lot of damper on traveling. Did you take a look at this image?

Hell, practically everything north of the Georgia border is covered in snow!
That image was taken 2 days ago!
Looks like clouds to me Laughing I didn't know snow sat on the Atlantic like that Wink JK

The number one reason Atlanta 1 had low attendance was the weather the week before. It was not talked about on the broadcast or hardly national news, but basically all of north GA, TN, west NC and SC were just pummeled with an ice storm. I live 45 minutes north of the city and did not have electricity for 3 days. It basically got worse the further north you went, and ice was all over the roads Friday night.

The 2nd reason is the back to back weeks. Many people coming from the surrounding states I spoke to said it was basically "pick one or the other" they aren't going to make a trip like that 6 days apart.

A good idea would be to have an Atlanta round, then Daytona, then come back to Atlanta, or anything along those lines.

I do not think the NASCAR race is going to have a huge effect on SX attendance this Saturday. There are plenty of hotels and amenities in Hampton, where the race track actually is. I know its called "Atlanta Motor Speedway" but its not close to Atlanta at all (same story with Road Atlanta, Braselton, GA 1 hour north of the city) No one is staying in downtown Atlanta to go to the NASCAR race so supercross is safe... there will be no "lack of room" in the hotels.

The whole 2 Atlanta experiment should take a couple of years to get real results. Many people had no idea there were even 2 races - hopefully they try this a couple years in a row and it will catch on... and the weather cooperates.

Just woke up this Tuesday to an inch of snow, which in GA is equivalent to Minnesota's 4 feet - everyone closes down and panics. Hopefully this shit clears out by Thursday so everyone can come down to the Dome and do what they love.

Last few labor days weekends atlanta has had nascar, Chick-Fil-A kickoff game, Braves games, and Comicon all on the same weekend. Trust me hotels will not be an issue this weekend.

RV/JS don't have a GD thing to do with it. The racing this year is the best in many years, both 250's and 450's.The real reasons

1) Back to Back races
2) Daytona
3) Weather

What racing have you been watching? It's been ok, but the best in years???

I hate to tell you this, but RV and JS not being there has hurt a bit. The turnout seems to have been thin at pretty much every round so far in the series. It's not down 50%, but it is down and it's not because of the weather or back to back races or Daytona.
