Now this is a weird one. This guy is sitting in his house watching TV in Arizona when his son returns from a ride. He sees a mountain lion crouching in the brush and goes running out and tackles it. Ends up with a concussion, but still has his son.

I stumbled on a cougar den the other night and had three eye balling me. Luckily my wife saw them and threw herself between me and the pack.
Looks like we won't be going back to the Salt Creek Grill in Dana Point anytime soon, that's for sure...

And not that what the dad did wasn't awesome, but the kid did have full gear on, right? At least, based on the post video they shot of him crusing thru the woods. Kinda makes me think that maybe the cougar woulda got a bite of helmet, boot or maybe chest protector, decided the kid tasted like crap and took off. I don't know crap about cougars though - I don't have a cousin's gardner's friend's friend who raises them, so what do I know?
Mountain lions don't attack people unless there is a underlying reason.
Same with bears. You people listen to the media hype too much.
If that cat had a den near there, or just laid a litter of kittens, then you're considered a threat and could, in fact, get fucked up.

I've never heard of a Mountain Lion going after someone riding a motocycle, but they've certainly gone after runners and bicyclists. An underlying reason would be that they're hungry, or that killing things is their instinct. They're hunters- it's what they do.
She had her kittens, or he stopped right by the den and she came home and he looked like a threat.
Wild animals dont attack people for the hell of it.
The problem is, no one will ever know, but the reality is, you're in their house.
If you came home, and some fucker was in your house, what would you do?

Thats like assholes that get bit by a snake. Most times, even if you step on it, it wants to get the hell out of there. You start poking at it, or get near the nest of eggs, expect to get bit.

Animals don't fuck with people. And you mentioned Bears. They just want food. They dont want you.
If there was an apple tree there, they'd eat all day and never pay any attention to a human standing right there except maybe to look up and make sure you arent trying to take on of HIS apples.

For the most part you're right about the bears though. Except for the occasional hungry Grizzly, and of course the Polar Bear that would happily eat you, most bears will take off just as quick as possible upon seeing or smelling you.
Lastly, not very many people are attacked by mountain lions. The animal that causes the most human deaths in North America is the White Tail Deer...
Believe the media hype. It's best for ya. Or just stay out of the woods and sit on your couch with your game controlleer.

9 square miles is 3x3. Not a big area at all for a cat. 100 square miles is ONLY 10 x 10. Still not a big area.

I have deer in my yard nightly. I suppose one is going to attack me. Funny thing is, the second they hear a noise, they disappear.
Recent estimates put the deer population in the United States at around 30 million. Motor vehicle collisions with deer are a serious problem in many parts of the animal's range, especially at night and during rutting season, causing injuries and fatalities among both deer and humans.
As for the idea that I turn on the newsand get hyped up; not going to happen. No TV viewing in my house. No, that's not sarcasm.
