Indy SX suggestions for first timer to Indy

We've gone the last two years. Both times were in the lower bowl in the corners, about ten rows from the front. Good seats but you only get to see the one or two corners and jumps in front of you. I'll be looking for seats a little higher up this year. But all in all Lucas Oil is a nice stadium. Not a bad seat in the house, as we tended to move around to watch practice. Pit passes are a crap shoot due to the weather. Two years ago was a tad cold and not many teams were working out side the haulers. Last year was nicer wether but the teams must have learned their lesson and had mini pits inside the stadium. But then again, the passes were only ten bucks. I don't know if they do this at other venues for SX but you can use your ticket to get in for practice and if you want to leave they stamp your hand to get back in. I recommend doing this to go eat lunch and maybe take your souvenirs back to your car. A few blocks from the stadium on S. Meridian St. is a cafeteria style deli called Shapiro's. EXCELLENT food. Miles better than the typical stadium garbage. I will say that the stadium does have good selection of beer. We had a local micro brew booth right behind our section. All in all a nice venue.. I'll be trying for seats in the top half of the lower bowl on the ends hopefully.

Also, if you're a gear head go in through the front door.

I usually sit in the 200s and last year in the 100's I like those seats. Last year I was there all day so during practice I went all the way to the top just to check it out. Let me say the view wasn't good, the skid steers looked like Tonka toys. My brother sat in I think it was the 400s. He was on the north side where it only has 100s and 400s and those were good seats. The problem is that the first 2 sections are pretty long then after that they start stacking them up so your far away and going up at the same time.

I used to always sit in level 200 or 300 around the 50 yard line. Perfect. We always parked at this bar about a mile away and then called a taxi to take us rather than pay $20-25 to park near the stadium. We would get our drink on and then head over.
