Hey guys anyone have a site where I can find the stock suspension settings ?
The manual gives oil heights but not clicker settings.
Thanks

Usually the middel is factore, count ccw to stop, then count cw to full setting half should be factory.

What is the model code on that bike? I may have a manual.

Looks like the 1989 model is the W. Damn Yamaha doesn't put a year model on the manual but this one shows the silver inverted forks and was printed in 88. There are two service manuals for the bike, the disassembly and reassembly edition and the operation, inspection, adjustment and tuning edition. The second one has the adjustment specs.

Forks, compression 6 clicks out.

Shock, compression about 14 clicks out
Shock, rebound about 12 clicks out
Manual states that there should be a punch mark on the adjuster that lines up with a punch mark on the shock body/bracket for standard settings. You see the punch marks?

Did the 89 forks not have external rebound adjusters on the fork caps?

If you have the 90 model, try to find the MXA test from that year. I went with a heavier spring and the Noleen base valve kit. Made a huge difference on the front forks. Rear suspension was pretty damn amazing stock.

Thanks Newmann
Yep it's the W, but I run A model forks on it from the 90 model.
The first year USD Kayabas were terrible..
The 89's only had air bleed caps on the top the 90 had rebound, I think.
I just want to set it back to standard and then start from there.

I had a 90 model, but gave the manual with the bike when I sold it. Multiple clicks were required with the stock base valves to feel a real difference in compression. With the Noleen base valve, that spike about halfway through the stroke was gone and each click of compression could be felt.
