First time they showed him hauling ass in the last moto I literally laughed thinking it's ridiculous how fast this dude is going and how the other riders didn't pose a threat at all.

Even Jeff Emig couldn't hold back a little bit of laughter based simply on how aggressive Eli was riding.

Thanks, Kongols, for your race weekend reports. It's good that Farmer John was there with his son. He's no stranger to competing in Europe.

So, we're giving him the Danny "Magoo" Chandler Trophy for 2014?

He was great. Looking forward to rewatching it and enjoying his ride again.

Absolutely.
Here is what my brother said and I agree 100 %. His top5 of the weekend.

Paulin - the best
Cairoli - most technical
Tomac - fastest
Ferrandis- most useful
Tonkov - biggest surprise

You had a much better vantage point, but that seems pretty fair and accurate.

Latvia looks like a beautiful Country, and the track looked incredible!

Thanks for all your updates!

Kongol I cannot believe I spaced on tracking you down. I absolutely love Latvia.....friendly people, beautiful women and unreal low prices. I couldn't have been more impressed with the track either and don't think I've ever seen a better Racing surface traction wise.

Man that track got ROUGH!

Better than Emig, Paul Malin (noted for his snide coverage of US riders) had no where to go with the color commentary than to praise Tomac's speed, dominance, and fitness. At one point he told the camera crew to stay on Tomac. Way to go Paul,
there's hope!

Rides like that don't happen too often. I have seen AC222 and Herlings make some great come-from-behinds. Despite the 3rd podium spot, Tomac made my day. I had to go riding!

My criticisms:
1. The fish bowl lottery sucks. A bad pick means you may not get good start position or starts. How about a timed practice?
2. 180 hairpin starts. I thought that Binghampton was bad until I saw this track. How many crashes were there?
3. Track in general... Few good passing lines and no elevation. How about just picking only world class tracks for one of the greatest events of the year?

Pluses:
1. Talent level seems to be higher every year. Lots of solid rides and a few heroic ones, Would like to see all of the best riders in the world make it to Ernee next year.
2. Fans at the race. Massive crowds and everyone is into it, dresses the part, and despite rooting for their country, puts it aside to cheer the winners.
3. Amy Dargan
