It's not an airborne disease. It wouldn't be an effective bio-terror weapon on civilized / hygienic societies. So I will go with the latter.

If Ebola it isn't a good bio threat then I just do not get this looting. Makes absolutely no sense-even throwing in the extreme poverty. This will not end well.

The Ebola virus is a lot like the HIV in that it is transmitted by coming into contact with bodily fluids though it can last a long time on surfaces where HIV doesn't. Being the nature of the symptoms are flu like and then hemorrhaging it is much easier to catch if you are around / treating someone who has it. As it is now it doesn't pose much threat in a place like America. The problems with spreading in Africa are due to poor and unsanitary hospital conditions (if they even get treatment) and the public's ignorance of what the disease is and how it is spread. My guess is they either looted it for the supplies or it was family of those who died or were sick from it. As the article stated those who were sick fled, they don't understand the necessity of quarantining and proper disposal of bodies and supplies.

Bioterrorists would want something airborne.
