2014 CRF250R or 2014 YZ250F.. Need help deciding!!

Edited Date/Time 7/19/2014 1:14pm
Hey Everyone!!

So I am really having a tough time deciding here which bike to get! I am driving myself crazy trying to decide, so here is my dilemma. I am 165 pounds, and 5'8. I currently have a 2010 yz250f, and always felt like it was a taller bulkier bike!I am either thinking of getting the new 2014 crf250r, or the 2014 yz250f. All in all i want a fuel injected bike, and just time for a new machine. I mostly ride desert, and hit the track a couple times a month, so just an all around recreational user

So my dilemma: Yamaha is taller, bulkier bike, but said to have amazing power and just great bike. Honda said to have great handling, easy usability, and obviously a Honda so reliability and quality will always be there, but i hear the power is shit! Any thoughts on what i should go for? Is the Honda really a weak bike, or is this just the shootout pros speaking???

PLEASE HELP!

Nice language, rather than clutter the forum, how bout posting a reply in your previous topic and then it gets shuffled back to the top of the feed for others to see, rather than just starting a new topic.

Despite your language I will tell you that the Yamahas are have some major problems.
FYI: Using that language will not get you help!

Thanks for your feedback Mom, didn't know this forum had to be G rated. Will keep that in mind next time I drop the F bomb.

Major problems? My bike and many others have been flawless and yes there is an issue with the shift shaft stopper and the water impeller, but both are $20 parts and a 30 min job to replace with the updated parts. My valves are still in spec and so are my buddies with 100 hours and Jason Raines demo bike with over 200. Not sure if I would qualify two part issues on a all new bike to be "major problems". Every bike has its little things.

They are also having major rod issues with the rod splitting. That is with less than 20 hours.
Don't get me wrong I like The Blue bikes, but right now there are more than $20 issues with it, as I see it and as reported.

I haven't heard of any rod issues, unless its a race bike or pro guy. Lots of these bikes running local races here in NE and people are having no issues.

I know of 2 locally and a couple from other forums all with the same rod issue and none with more than 20 hours on them and these are not hot shoe riders either.
I think Yamaha should step forward and correct all these issues.
I had the first 250F that they made and several after that and all were built well and had no issues, but this new one seems to have some issues to correct and yet Yamaha has yet to step up to the plate.

No issues here at 30 hours, but being a newbie C rider Im not too hard on the bike. My 05 and 12's were bulletproof. I agree Im a bit disappointed with Yamaha. They updated the parts which means they acknowledge a design issue/problem but rather than issue a recall Im paying out of pocket to update this stuff. Im hoping my rod isn't next.

Buy the 2015 YZ250F. I believe updates have been made.

Unless you are seriously modding the bike, Yam is better stock bike.
