I remember seeing a Wildest Police Videos where I guy robbed a liquor store with a gas weed whacker. I wouldn't want a weed whacker stuffed in my face or anywhere near my skin. Should we outlaw those, too?

I can guarantee you that little bastard would have eaten at least half of his teeth after I bashed his face in with a chair! I know there were plenty of those laying around.
And say what you want about losing the job over that action but in this case I wouldn't care if I couldn't get anything better than a job as a paper boy before this maniac gets at another student!
IMO every teacher that witnessed this happening and did nothing to at least try to stop it should lose their job!
When I took my CPR AED course, they told us to call the office before you even check on the student if an emergency happens inside the classroom. You do not touch the student except to turn them on their side to keep them from aspirating if they are convulsing or having a seizure. The only emergency we don't call the office for is an active shooter on campus. If there is an active shooter, we call 9-911 and tell them what school we are at. We then lock the doors and keep everyone inside until an All Clear signal is given, which we don't know what that sounds like. We don't even open the door for anyone identifying themselves as police, law enforcement, FBI, etc. We have to wait for an announcement over the system or a phone call to unlock the door. In college, we were told to keep a 5 gallon bucket in the classroom for this situation, seriously....
If anyone was ever trying to harm any of my students, whether they are my favorite or least favorite student, I would do anything I could to stop it. Most of my fellow teachers think this way, too.
And for all you gun guys, were there weapons shortages at the army base where the shootings happened? I got the impression from you guys the more guns the safer people would be - especially trained people. (and before I get accused of making fun of people getting killed, I notice several people here seem to think school kids being stabbed is a cause for amusement).
And talking of amusement - " Gun's aren't designed to kill, per se"
I realise that there are people for whom killing people is an option on the solution list. For many of these people guns are a convenient tool. Does that help?
P.S. Paleblue is still good. The extra 'r' is an unfortunate technicality.
There are tight restrictions on carrying loaded weapons on that base.
Typically, the only time you see people carrying loaded firearms(Duty weapons) in the urban environments on that base is when they are carried by the the military police. That's who responded to the situation. It was a female MP that fired a shot at him and then he turned the gun on himself - lights-out.
However,in other areas you will see guys coming back from live fire training drills ect. armed.
Now,in an area like that... I dont believe he would have got off a lot of shots and been able to move around as swiftly as he did.Well, unless he was a highly trained elite bad-ass & wearing body armor.
