Hello all,

I have literally just started to restore my 1991 honda, (I should have taken pictures I know) anyway I've had the frame powder coated, I'm going to send the engine off, when I find the right place (UK if any recommendations!

I'm already running into problems, with what I expect are usual suspects!

The tank, I've started to sand it as it was rougher than the sand paper I am currently using, but it doesn't seam to be getting any better!

The swing arm, dints and scratches is sanding the only option? Again it seams to be taking forever!

The yolkes, I used some alloy wheel cleaner on these as I was just going to tidy them up, yet there was some grey paint on them, this is I fact primer and the bare metal is underneath this! What do I do to make this look good again? Is it yet more sanding as I don't want to smooth it and have a chrome look tbh

Any advice guys thanks

Morning Big Lad,

The yokes and swing arm need to be vapour blasted. But first you need to dress out as much of the gouges and scratches as possible. Once blasted the swing arm sides can be rubbed with wet & dry then a skotch bright pad to get that OEM "brushed" look (don't touch the cast areas). The yokes will look as new straight back from the blaster.

The motor. Are you looking for some one to rebuild it? Or just get it vapour blasted and then powder coated? We can do both of these services for you, and offer advice on anything else you might need during your build. (we're in the UK)

Doing the tank takes a LOT of time. Sandimng away with smoother and smother wet & dry untill you get on the polish. Its can be done but it will take a lot of time. You could send it away to Plastic restorations? Not sure of the price though.

Be good to see some pics of the bike, Its alway cool to see before and after shots! Even if they arent shot from the very start, I like seen progress!

If you need any advice on anything drop us a line!

Thank you for the reply

I am currently looking for a reasonably priced vapour blaster to do some work for me and may contact you regarding the engine, a friend can powder coat ect. I`m trying to keep the cost down, hence trying to do as much of the work myself as I can.

I spoke to someone about doing the tank and they said around £350, which is ridicules (i drive a car that cost less than that).

This is the bike before the strip down and will take some of the progress! thanks again
