Show off some of your favorite 1911's. After bouncing around with a few different guns, I can see why the purists love their 1911's ,the things fit like a glove. While I'm liking the FNX Tactical I just picked up and have been looking at some HK's, the Sig Scorpion I got recently is pretty amazing. Think I'm going to look into a little trigger work and call it good.

Recently traded off some of my vintage dirt bike stash for a few others that are on the way, one new one that I've been drooling over for the last year and a couple old collectible ones. Not here yet but feverishly awaiting their arrival.

I dont own any 1911's right now.
Not really into single action combat pistols these days.
I used to have a AMT Skipper that I carried back in the 1990's often, that was all re worked by Ed Brown.
It was pretty bad ass rare weapon that I acquired in a pawnshop with real high dollar grips on it.
Today that pistol probably is an easy $2,500 with all the custom work that was done.

As for that Marine...
I wouldn't waste money on it.
You can buy them right now and have been able to for about a year.... I've seen a few go for about 4k+.
Here's one. http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=391289745

If you want a good high dollar 1911,look into one of these.
They're about $2,500.

Or even a Les Baer or Nighthawk tactical.

Or you could even pick up a Springfield with a rail on it and get it reworked and refinished by a legendary pistolsmith
and still save a ton.And pretty much have the same thing as that marine.

What will happen with those Marines is...
Once there are a ton of them mass produced, the price will drop.
Those other custom 1911's I mentioned will still hold their value.

Cool.
Those new RRA's are neat ...poly frame right?
Mark and Chuck both used to work for Springfield.
They indeed know their stuff.

Pretty indestructible. I got it for my son for his 13th birthday. Well, at least that's what I tell him when I get new guns, that they are for him... lol

It shoots pretty nice too.

Oh, I'm not interested in that Colt enough to go bidding on one. Heck, I can't believe that Marine pistol even has bids on it on the auction site. Those people are batshit crazy as it retails for $2099.00 I believe. Not getting mine with the intent of selling, but damn.....Laughing There is a lot of horsetrading between multiple parties to get mine. Colt is only pushing out 80 of them per month, not sure what the overall production will be.

Nighthawk? Been eyeing a few of those. Tasty stuff there.

Don't know if you're a fan of this company, but I've shot STI's before and liked them very much.

Been impressed with the Ruger so far. No problems after the first 500-600 rounds. Cant beat it for the price $635 new.

Just wanted to say that I was kidding with my above posts. I'm fully aware of what those awards mean and totally respect them.

This pistol was Taurus attempt to bring a quality 1911 to people (like me) who will not drop mega bucks on those expensive brands. They succeeded bigtime and its an excellent piece. We bought ours back when this first came out and found one on sale at GanderMountain for $475 bucks. Thats a LOT of quality pistol for under 5 hunnert. You can do a Google search and be hard pressed to find a single magazine or firearm website that says anything but raving reviews.

I may have bought the wrong gun. I recently bought a bare bones Springfield Mil Spec for more money. I have had many higher end 1911's but wanted to try a basic one, that Taurus looks pretty good. But hey let's talk ammo. Anyone reload out there? After much R&D I have settled on a 200 swc with 5.4 grains of 231 and a wax gas check.

Nope you didn't buy the wrong gun, there is no such thing as the wrong gun, there is only lets get another gun for the collection.Wink
The Springfield is a great 1911 and I have never bought a Taurus in the past but I may buy one in the future. I would have picked the Springfield over the Taurus because I have several Springfields already and they are great. No such thing as buyers remorse for the gun you bought.
