I'm looking for some advice on the best option for repairing or upgrading the wheels on my 2009 YZ250. Both the front and rear wheels are stock and both rims have flat spots. The spokes on both wheels appear to be in need of replacement as well.

I am considering the option of replacing the rims and spokes on both ends while keeping the stock hubs. I would like to get a quality rim and spoke set but not spend crazy money if possible. I would have a local shop lace the wheels for me and I would need something that would work with the stock hubs.

The second option would be replacing both front and rear complete wheels. I would like to keep the costs as low as possible but have a setup that is durable and is safe. I'm a vet B rider and weigh about 250 and ride mostly on a jumpy, hardpack track.

Any advice would be appreciated on what would be a good option for me.

Cheapest option is probably used complete OEM wheels on ebay. Then use your current wheels as emergency spares. You can usually get brand new or nearly new for like $400. Good rims and spokes are more than that, especially if you pay to have them built.

After checking with my local shop this morning about the cost of having the wheels built I think I'm going to go the Ebay route. The costs of good rims and spokes sets online plus the labor costs are getting way beyond what I want to spend. I was hoping to spend max $200 per wheel and got a bit of a wake-up call. Thanks for the info, its much appreciated.

KGMX, if I end up having them rebuilt you are welcome to my old spoke set if you need them. I'll message you if I go that route and send them your way.
