Ha ha. That some funny shit.

Sweet game. I've done no exploring yet as I've gotten so sucked in to the story that I just go from mission to mission.

Any further thoughts from everyone after a few hours in?

Certainly the best GTA ever imo. I think the strongest most surprising thing for me with this one, is that this GTA title has finally made me care somewhat about the story and playable characters. Even Trevor (maybe especially Trevor - the dude is too horrendous and funny all in one). The ability to switch between the three, experience parts of their lives (good or bad) and then work together as a team; makes them feel far more like real (within the confines of the GTA universe) fleshed out individuals, rather than just random people you might meet on a mission etc.

game is awesome. my only complaint is that i can't play the stock-market because I don't have an internet connection at home.

Not missing much on the stock market. I've bought several cheap stocks because I can get a lot of shares, but so far none of them have went up enough in value to justify selling them. I haven't played the GTA series in a while, and was pumped to pick this one up. I have two complaints. #1 is the site on the guns. Seems to small IMO and tends to disappear in the right lighting. #2 is, I steal a prostitutes money post "services" and she has a substantial less amount than I just paid her. Where the FUCK is my money?! Other than that this game is top notch. So much to do. Anyone entered the Offroad/Moto race yet?

EDIT: Any way to delete contacts in your phone? Got some triflin' ass bitches who are always "busy" that are cluttering up my contacts list.

i'm with you on the gun-sight reticle... way too small and light colored.

also, everyone is saying it's easier to get away from the cops, but i think it's a lot harder. i'll get completely out of sight and hide under an overpass or behind some building, wait a couple minutes and some trick-ass mother fucker comes and sniffs me out and then gets popped in the face of course.

i spent like 5 minutes stealing a few cars, setting up a big ass traffic jam, then walked down the middle of cars pouring gas on the ground in a big trail, complete with a bunch of sticky grenades on some of the cars... the explosion was fucking massive and epic, so awesome!

last night i spent over an hour and about $100k trying to jump out of a helicopter and land in a swimming pool... landed on some cars, splattered myself all over the road/buildings/lawn equipment... finally got it though. was awesome. can't believe all the shit i've done, and i'm not even 50% done...

here's some of my stats... kinda funny how i play into their personalities

Michael - 10 hrs - 250 kills
Franklin - 8 hrs - 200 kills
Trevor - 9.5 hours - 700+ kills (i shoot everyone that says something to Trevor, he's an absolute fucking terror)

i also bought the LSCustoms up in Blaine County, get free car upgrades with Franklin, and spent a couple hours fully upgrading a ton of cars to store in my garages. my suv is fully armored and bulletproof tires... drove around with 4 stars for about 10 minutes haha

Awesome game, go to the top of the tallest mountain and and there's a few motocross bikes, pretty good fun blasting down on them with the police chasing you.
9/30/2013 7:30am
^^ Mount Chilidad. I tried to take a Jeep up there and slid off a cliff. Damn thing rolled for like 10 minutes down the mountain. Then I got out because it was missing 3 tires and tried to walk down it and Franklin tumbled for about another 5 minutes until he died.

On top of the one of the hospitals is a helicopter landing pad with two choppers. Steal them with Trevor and you can park them at his helipad in the desert and they're there when you wanna use them. I landed it on one of the taller buildings and sniped from up there. Street cops couldn't get to me(no ladders), only had to deal with the police helicopters. Sat up there for about an hour just blasting people. Worked my way up to 5 stars.

SIDE NOTE: Anyone had any of their cars disappear? I had a tricked out 2014 Corvette for Michael and the damn thing just disappeared? I also had another car(looked like a Viper) that I backed out of his garage and parked on the other side of the house so I could park the Hummer in there and went back to the other side to get in it and it was gone?? WTF?

i like doing the sniping from buildings too, so much fun.

regarding losing cars, don't park them in your free garages... you need to purchase the garages and you can store more cars and you won't lose them.

The garage losing the cars should be fixed with the online update you should have installed. Well shit, not you Peelout. IDK how you go with no interent.
Speaking of sniping from buildings, I went to the top of the one thats under construction with a fully equipped arsenal, got all 5 stars on me and could just hid under the construction. Then Id pop back out and snipe the helicopter pilots. I thought the army or swat would zip line down and get me but they never did and eventually all the stars disappeared.

Yeah I just got the update yesterday. Gonna buy some garages and probably buy Los Santos Customs since Franklin can upgrade cars for free. I figure I'll upgrade them as Franklin, then steal them from Franklin as Michael or Trevor and park them in their garages. Not sure if it'll work or not. lol

Anyone tried online?? I tried it yesterday and HOLY SHIT! In order to pick what your character looks like, you pick your grandparents on your mother's side(both her mother and father) and the grandparents on your father's side(both of his) then you have a bar to select how much your mother favors each of her two parents, same for your father. Once you end up with how each parent looks, you select how much you favor each of them to determine what you look like.

Didn't get to actually play online, I tried to just jump in(I guess it would be a public room?) and it said it couldn't create a session. Didn't try creating a private session, but I have been getting notifications of people on my friends list creating crews. Didn't have much time to play yesterday, gonna try to figure the online deal out more today.

gonna try to get my internet hooked up next week, i expected some bugs this week though... lot of people trying to get on at once.

just gonna say though that i'm getting tired of the tiny aiming reticle. last night i tried the same god damn mission over and over, you have to chase someone down in your car and the only way to stop them is to shoot from your moving car and take them out, but the problem is i can't see the fucking reticle so i'm just spraying everywhere and i ended up getting killed 4 times. i finally just started using my sawn-off and getting as close as i could. just frustrating.

my only other beef is with the swimming controls. hard to explain but i was trying to pick up some submarine parts and kept doing circles little bursts of speed while trying to swim would put me 20 feet from my target, then i had to try to spin around and get back and did it over and over... and fuck if i wasn't getting pissed.

other than that i'm still under the belief that this is the best game of this generation of consoles. just wish they would do something about the reticle... why put a scope on my AR if i can't see where the damn reticle is even at?

as for popping off random pedestrians, my favorite is to just single shot with a pistol. awesome.

also, one more thing, the NPC's in this game have some serious road rage issues and it's fucking hilarious to cause them to rage. i'll arm my fist while driving, hold LB while aiming at a car and my guy will flip them off. sometimes you have to ram their car a couple times, and flip them off, and then they just completely lose it haha! i have got multiple buses to just mow through pedestrians and traffic. yesterday i raged a car into ramming an Ambulance... the paramedics jumped out, pulled the woman from the car and beat her to death. then they just jumped into the ambulance and went on like it never happened. awesome

I've found a half ass solution to the reticle. If you press L1(PS3) to use your sight, it automatically focuses on a target. So after I kill a guy I just let off L1 and then tap it again and it finds another target. It sucks, but it has helped a lot, especially when there are a lot of people after you. Just hold it down while shooting whoever is after you, then when you see the red X, release it and then hold it down again and it'll find another person. Only works on people who are actually after you though, not just passer-bys you wanna shoot. The reticle is a fucking joke though. Not only does it need to be larger, but it needs to be something besides white. A fluorescent color that stayed consistent under all lighting conditions would be awesome.

I also agree about the swimming. Same thing happens whenever I try to fly a helicopter and I have to hover over something. I start getting fucking pissed and to make matters worse I got Trevor or Lester yelling in my fucking ear because I'm not doing it right. Pricks.

i know what mission you're talking about, where you hover over the hole in the ground? that one pissed me off too.

yeah, i get the combat shooting... it works ok the way you're saying. but driving and shooting is the worst. the reticle needs to be fixed. so many great 3rd person games out there that nail it, even Red Dead Redemption had a great reticle. not sure why they went the direction they did with that
10/2/2013 10:35am
Yeah that one, the submarine mission, the mission for the FIB where you steal the nerve gas and have to put that container on the semi when you get back to the airfield. Maybe I'm just terrible at flying the helicopters. lol But driving and shooting really is bad. Maybe they'll update it.

I was finally able to get online tonight. Character setup is pretty cool once you get it figured out(I was trying to make one that resembled myself.) Don't want to spoil anything, but your character doesn't speak. He does however have some pretty cool hand gestures to choose from. Just me and one other guy in the public room. I never saw him, just did some of the tutorial missions to get some cash. Quick tip, deposit the majority of your cash in the bank by using an ATM. When you die, whatever cash is in your pocket is free for the taking. Everything seemed to run pretty smooth so far. The game appeared to freeze at one point for about 5 minutes, but instead of quitting the game or rebooting I just said fuck it, ate dinner and when I came back everything from then on ran smooth. I can definitely say that online has added a whole other dimension to this game. Once you build some rep online it's gonna be epic.

i need to get the internet dammit...

also, looked up the reticle issue and found that you can go into the pause options and select combat reticle, puts a circle around the center reticle... not sure if it makes it easier to see as i haven't played since i got that tip. also, from what people are saying, the smaller the tv the easier to see the reticle... makes no sense to me though
10/3/2013 9:58am
Nice tip. Figured out why the character doesn't speak, you use your mic to speak. When I held up a store it said yell at the cashier in your mic to make him get the cash faster. Pretty nice. Played some more on lunch today and actually had a room full of people. It fucking sucked. Couldn't get anything accomplished because everyone was just trying to kill everyone else. They were leveled up with SMG's and shit and all I had was a pistol. Definitely think I'm gonna play in passive mode for a while until I complete some missions and build up my arsenal. One message that popped up on my screen I thought was pretty cool is that if you play like an asshole, it puts you in rooms with other assholes. Must be some sort of voting system or something. I still haven't figured everything out.

ps... the "Complex Reticle" makes a HUGE difference. HUGE.
10/5/2013 9:24am
I tried the new reticle last night and it's definitely way better, especially when driving. Thanks for the tip, Peely. Also played some more online, just doing missions and trying to unlock stuff and save some money. When Simeon (the car dealer from the beginning of the story mode that had Franklin repoing cars) has you to go pick up a Coquette for him, just cut the guy off, get out and shoot him and take it. I made the mistake of just trying to hijack the car like you do normal civilians and it was a mistake. He just takes off and I chased that son of a bitch for about an hour trying to get his car. Seriously. I went all the way around the entire map, spinning him out and shooting at him, which alerted the police so I had them trying to take me out while I was trying to take the guy in the Coquette out. It was fucking chaos that could've been easily avoided had I just shot him. The police are fucking insane online. Way more aggressive and definitely harder to escape from than story mode, IMO.

I did the gold heist last night, too, AKA "The Big One." Went pretty smooth all things considered, and after that I took Franklin back to his house and had a guest show up at my door for what is apparently the final mission. I won't ruin it, but what did everyone choose? A, B, or C? I chose C and I'm thinking it may be a mistake, but I just couldn't bring myself to do A or B.

I chose C as well, purely for the fact that it might include killing that asshole Devin weston.

i'm just getting ready to steal the getaway cars for the final heist, so i'm not there yet. really digging the story and actually kinda bummed that it's almost over. started to really like Trevor's character, especially after he finds out about Brad. was thinking about finishing it out and then just focus on trying to get 100% completion, should keep me busy until RedDead2 Wink
10/8/2013 7:55am Edited Date/Time 10/8/2013 8:04am
Finished it up last night and that final mission is pretty intense. After the final mission, the credits rolled, then it put me back at Franklins house. I waypointed Los Santos Customs that was for sale(the one in the desert) and leaving Vinewood Hills going across the mountain there was a blue dot(like when a person gets robbed and you can choose to help). Turns out this chick was getting raped by two old dudes. One was in his underwear watching and the other was on top of her. I shot the first dude that was in his underwear, and the other guy stands up and almost killed me because I was froze like WTF?! Full on cock and balls, dude. Have no idea how they got away with it. Anyways, shot him right in the dick and took that chick home. Got $80 for my trouble.

Also played some more online, this time with people on my friends list and it's pretty badass playing it that way. You actually get to accomplish some stuff and get cash, as opposed to the "free-for-all" that is the public room. The one mission where half the players are runners and half are hunters is pretty fun. Half the guys get cars or planes and have to reach a destination before the hunters get them. Hunters get military Jeeps or fighter jets to chase them with. We played that repeatedly for nearly an hour.

I got a kick out of giving the people rides and then doing doughnuts til they puke and watching it spray out the side of the car.

finished the main story the other night... couple notes (no spoilers)

1 - i thought the Big Heist was the weakest mission in the game, pretty uneventful because i did the subtle approach (going to replay that mission and see if i can do it the aggressive approach)

2 - i too took ending "C". i just couldn't fathom ending the game any other way. the final ending (basically the entire time after the Devin visit at Franklin's house) was pretty awesome and i liked how it went to credits, i thought it was a great way to end it. i wish they would have had more missions like it, switching between characters and doing major storyline stuff all in the same mission.

3 - after the ending, i started buying everything, but the places you buy don't generate enough cash to justify it.

4 - also after the ending, i replayed the other two options of the final game... i'm glad i ended it the way i did. not sure if anyone else has done the two other endings, but i'll just say i found them both a bit disturbing in their nature. i kinda wish i hadn't done them and that Rockstar wouldn't have even included them.

Just picked up another Xbox last night and got this game to see how it was. I thought I only got about an hour in last night but I ended up playing til almost midnight. Made it a few missions in with Michaels character and then did some side mission with a crackhead towing a car. I'm with you guys on the reticle thing, shit sucks big time. Trying to shoot the guy off his motorcycle in one of the repo missions is a pain in the ass. I haven't messed around to much free roaming yet but you guys have given me some good ideas on where to start.

I'll be getting my Xbox live back on in another week or 2. ShesAfreak is my gamertag if anyone wants to go on a rampage together.

Jared,
try hitting Start, go into options, and change the reticle to "Combat". makes a HUGE difference
