This is why I quit racing at tracks with concrete starts. It breaks my heart to see young brooms hanging around the start gate, practically throwing themselves at moto-dads, most of whom likely have a broom of their own. These are brooms with loose morale values, they sweep compulsively and without joy. It makes me wonder where they will end up in a few years, the lucky ones might find god and hope to eke out an existence sweeping up a gymnasium or some sort of driveway; but what about the other, less fortunate, brooms? Is it so hard to imagine them wandering some municipal landfill seeking, a little wistfully, for the dramatic turbulence of some irrecoverable motocross race? Sadly, the latter is the case for most moto-brooms; and, unless something is done in the near future, we could face a tomorrow where the biggest gripe of the average vitard is not the price of a new motorcycle, not the use of lasers on starting gates, not even the wild longing to see more two strokes at races. No, the sad fact of the matter is we may wake up to a world in which the biggest cost of racing is finding a good broom.
Holy crap! This was pure GOLD. Thank you for the LOLs......

Yeah, Vital's so crazy. The next thing you know someone will use a flattrack bike as their avatar.

I just saw on C-Span that Obama is going to prevent future situations like this by way of an executive order outlawing all brooms.

Here is part of the trancript:

In an effort to bring parity to the sport of motorcross, to make things more fair and hopefully to prevent prevent Moto dads from acting stupidly I have directed the agencies under my control to address the serious issue of brooms and other cleaning devices used at motorcross events.

An added benefit will be improved air quality by reducing particulates becoming airborne.

Thus, enforcement will fall under the jurisdiction of the EPA.

Enforcement will be handled by specialized teams or Special Teams At Race Tracks.

The phrase "START" line will have an entirely new meaning.

START agents will be recognizable by the reflective START lettering on their uniforms. In addition they will have a top of the line communication setup with aeronautic grade headsets. To prevent any possible interference all other two way radio usage will now be illegal.

Expect security lines and possibly body scanners to look for hidden sweepeing devices.

Participants should expect to get to the staging area an hour in advance.

As an alternative to the now obselete brooms, participants will be allowed to use approved vacaum cleaners with hepa filters provided they use the designated water misted disposal areas to empty bags.

Participants and crews will be responsible for securing any devices by either keeping it with them at all times or using the "Start Line Particulate Removal Device Check (PRD) Booth" at the Start line. PRD valet service will be available at select events.

We are also negotiating with several vendors interested in providing PRD rentals.

There will be a reasonable charge to event promoters for services provided by START and vendors.

Expect a slight increase in entry fees starting on January 1, 2014. New fees will be $905.00/class

For complete details, go to www.STARTnow.gov to download the 6,021 page booklet.

Um,

Thanks guys
