recently I suffered a pretty severe broken collar bone on the left side. I broke it into 5 pieces. now I have a9 inch titanium plate and 14 screws in my shoulder... has anybody else had a similar injury like this? if so what was your recovery time and any pain at the injury site? how did it affect your riding ability. I'm nervous about range of motion....

it was your neck brace huh?

(just kidding) that is a heavy break. I had 7 surgeries over the years and each time the body seemed to come back eventually. Heal up man. dang.

I decided to re-posistion (break it off) my clutch perch and lever and hand guard mount after pulling a (buds creek) Doug Henry, with my clavicle at a local sand pit, i wasnt even racing...i was riding my trainer bike, a 99 rm eric gorr big bore 125. But its part of the sport, i get that. Ive been super lucky because this is my first moto related surgery.

I had a grade 4(?) shoulder separation that had to be plated and screwed. I got pretty good range of motion back after a few months and then had to have the plate and screw removed after about 7 or 8 months. I've also got an Eric gorr rm144 but here's the real embarrassing part: I wasn't riding my motorcycle. My best friend lives down the road from me and we were gonna grill some burgers at his place. I have a fixed gear road bike that I dick around on and figured "I'll just cruise down there on that." So I take off with a backpack full of hamburger patties and as I'm moving along at a pretty good clip my foot slipped off the pedal and went up behind the front fork, resulting in an instant and unintentional foot jam endo at about 25 mph. So I fly through the air and slam down shoulder first and then skidded to a stop on top of my backpack full of uncooked hamburger meat. Not a pleasant sight. My buddy had to come pick me up and luckily my neighbor is an orthopedic surgeon so he was able to look at it right after for me. But here I am, 2 years later and just got back from the skatepark with my 5 year old son, so it's doing fine now!

Haha, nope the meat was spent. And the plate didn't really bother me much, getting it removed was just the plan from the surgeon from the start. I do have a shoulder brace EVS makes that I wear if I am gonna be doing anything too extensive. But even that I have kind of slacked on wearing. Just gets so damn hot and humid down here that it's just one more thing to make me hotter (I know that's not a good reason not to wear it though).
