Consolation Alternates?

So I happened to notice that Roman and Richardson who got 5th and 6th in the Consi, raced both of the 250 motos(and did very well at that). I thought they only took 4 though. Are they keeping alternates or did something happen that allowed these 2 to race?

Its awesome that these guys got to race but who didn'r get to race!?

Martin Davalos qualified 18th but since he had been sick the team made the decision to pull him out of the motos.

Tommy Weeck was the other. He was 36th in qualifying and the last guy to make the timed cut but I do not see him in the results. It looks like Weeck must have had bike issues. A tweet from him on raceday was tagged #bikeproblems

Since 2 riders from timed qualifying pulled out the consolation took 6 riders to round out the 40 man gate. I wonder if the riders knew before the consi that they were racing for 6 spots instead of 4 or did they make that call to grab the 5th and 6th place guy afterwards.

We did not know before the consi but had a pretty good idea we would be racing an hour before the main. It wasn't official till about 1 minute before the sight lap.

Glad you guys got to race!

a few years ago they would have let that gate run with 38 guys.... Glad they are making changes to benefit privateers!

On a scale from one to ten how pumped are you that you got to race? Follow up question: If you hadn't gotten to race would it have still been worth it to be suited up and ready to go? Think I know the answer to this question but wanted to ask it nonetheless.

Anytime we make a main it's a 10, gets harder every week. Last year at Red Bud we were first alternate and didn't get into the main. It does suck when ya don't get in but the chance of making that 480 bucks makes it worth it. There were guys waiting as alternates to get in the lcq at Budds. Makin the main does make for a way better drive home. Next stop for us will be RED BUDDDDDDD
