I considered a rekluse but I would think that after a while, you would become dependent on it and would have trouble riding a bike without one. Using the clutch properly is a skill. Not sure I want to give that skill up. I guess if all bikes had auto clutches it wouldn't be a big deal, but they don't.
The rekluse doesn't eliminate the need to use the clutch at all (a rekluse can't feather a clutch coming out of a corner, for example...that still needs to be done manually)...so using the clutch is still as important with one as without.

I sound like a company rep or something...that's not true...they don't even sponsor me (though they should!, come on rekluse, hook me up!)...I'm just a fan of the product, and see a lot of wrong info out there about them, and try and correct it. Sorry for dominating the conversation...

Maybe Hinson is making their own auto clutch and he was testing it..?
That's what I'm thinking. A version similar to the Core EXP 2.0, which is MAGIC!

On the off-road side there's A LOT of pro riders running Rekluse products but virtually none of them run an actual auto clutch. Rekluse makes great parts for standard clutches as well.

OK, lets say a few of the top guys/teams uses Rekluse.

Why should they keep it a secret and not advertise for it like they do with all the other brands supporting them. It dosent make sense.

Back to square one and I found that we have bitched about this 2011 regarding Stewart. That went down as in him not using one? Time has passed though, and maybe some top muppets are now using them, or similar approach that goes in line with having water in the energy cans on the podium. Could be they use some similar set-up as the auto clutches Rekluse EXP produce, rather than the slippery clutches (Hinson) but still have parts in the auto system coming from Hinson? But it's still not Rekluse they use? But since Hinson doesn't produce them, it gets all confused in marketing? Maybe no other than the 3-digits people are using the pure Rekluse auto clutches set-up? Maybe none of the top five uses auto at all?

Amazing that the biggest MX-forum in the world, has no person willing to answer such a simple question?

I assume it's water in the energy cans, no one has asked and confirmed it though...

I honestly don't think that many of the top MX/SX riders are running a rekluse clutch...their are advantages to it (mostly in preventing stalls...its arguable that bubba would have two more wins this season if it weren't for stalling the bike in a corner), but they are more apparent in the off road world (If you watch the youtube vid I put on the first page those riders talk about the advantage of it).

The only way they wouldn't want to talk about it is if one, they didn't get support from rekluse (which I have a hard time believing that a factory team would approach rekluse they wouldn't give them support) and had to purchase the product on their own and don't want to give rekluse something for nothing...two they have a different clutch sponsor and for contractual purposes have to advertise for the other company (I find this hard to believe as well). Three, they are embarrassed to use admit to using an auto clutch (this is the most likely).

so what I'm saying is, if the teams are mentioning it, they probably aren't using it.

How do they work? Does it magically keep your bike running if you tip it over?
the easiest way to explain it is this, take out some clutch plates, insert a 3/8 wide friction disk that expands then rpm is raised by using wedges that work against springs to expand the plate. When the bike is at low rpm the clutch just slips as if you were pulling the lever. IF the bike goes above idle rpm, the wedges cause the plate to expand thus engaging the clutch. You can still pull the clutch lever at any time however, the feel or function is not as good as what you would get with a stock clutch, however it is damn good enough if you have it adjusted right. So pretty much you never have to use the clutch, on the start only really or if you want to bump up rpm real quick.. I think a pro can do better with a manual clutch by a little if he doesn't mess up and stall or crash. As an amateur though, I think they are great. I am actually considering relocated my front brake to left just under clutch and see if I can get used to it as I rarely grab the clutch.

That is a great explanation of how it works.

I may not be as finicky about my clutch feel as you (and certainly not as much as pro riders would be) but I honestly couldn't tell even the slightest difference in clutch feel between my Core EXP 2.0 and my stock manual clutch.

I love this thing!
