So the wife wanted to plan a weekend vacation and i convinced her to go this weekend Wink , so this will be my first time going to a different SX besides our yearly St. Louis trip. The parking in St. Louis is terrible and it literally takes an hour each time to get out of the parking lot. Can anyone give me any tips on parking where i dont have to wait an hour, or is this just not the case in Minneapolis regardless of how close i park? Thanks in advance.

The few times ive gone to the dome doesn't make me an expert by any means, but they don't have a big parking lot around the stadium. Its small lots scattered around the area. It helps with exiting for sure, but kind of disorienting for the directional challenged like myself. If you get there early you will be fine. I remember sitting for hours to get out of Anahiem back in the day (RJ / McGrath era)

I understand about the St Louis parking. Flew down this year, did not move the first hour trying to leave after the event. If you are staying in a hotel by the Mall of America ( your wife is going with) you can park at the Mall and take a train to the dome. It takes about 40 minutes with all the stops but would save on parking fee. Other wise I usually try to park on the north east side of the dome. You then just need to go east a couple of blocks to get on I-35 south or 94 west. Check out the streets first as most are one way and can really make getting out slow if you are leaving towards the wrong way.

Take the damn train!

That's how we do it in STL(Metro Link) and this year @ PHX(Metro Light Rail).

I wanna say we are staying west of the dome like 10 or 15 minutes. And we will be getting there close to the start of the event. She doesnt mind doing the sx gig, but doesnt wanna spend 7 hours watching practice then the races like my buddy and I do. Also we will have 2 kiddos with us so im sure she will want to park in a more "well lit" area if you will.

If you are west of the metrodome you will be taking 394 in most likely so I would get off on the 4th street exit and head east till you get two to three blocks from the metrodome and there should be lots around there. Try to to position yourself to take third street back (one way) which we lead yourself straight out back onto 394 west. There is a Twins game at 3 which will end at 6 so give yourself a extra little time going thru downtown if you are close to that time, but taking 4th street should be ok.

Like jskmyirch posted, take 4th st towards dome. That is what we do, and just find a lot as you get close or; this year I might get a reserved spot at 400 s 3rd st ($8) ahead of time just to make it easier it is about 5 blocks from the dome so seems like a good spot (not to close). Here is a iink you can check out for reserved parking. The major hangup leaving is getting out of the lot, once out and on 3rd street, no big deal. As far as well lit, no worry tons of fans around.

Minneapolis is forecasted to get 7-12" of snow between now and Friday! With temperatures not warming up until next week it could make for a interesting pit situation and a lot of complaining from the so-cal bros!!!

All the thuggy hoodlems come out of the woodwork whenever theirs anything going on at that stadium looking to loot whatever they can from your vehicle. Love to be able to have a stand on top the stadium overlooking the lots waiting for one to bust out a car window. Then KABOOOM!=Vapor! Just like back in the storm!
Used to go to this race every year in the McGrath era and every year numerous vehicles around us had been broken into. Cant imagine its gotten any better around there!

How about you just stay in littletown, we don't need any redneck wacks like you at the race much less in MN. Are you the same Wi clown claiming it is dangerous and out of control at Millville a while back? Seems someone is a bit butt hurt nothing ever happens in WI. The guy is taking his family on a trip to a race that is as safe as any and you come up with this crap, what a jerk.
