WYOtech Vs. MMI?

I would like to hear from anyone who has experienced either of these two schools before. Whether you are a current student, enrolled, or graduate. I've been researching these two schools and i'm curious what the reviews are about them. Will it help achieve a degree that will really help get into a good business, either a dealership, small local shop, or specialty business. I want to hear everything from going there, how you felt while going there(well worth it?), to how you felt afterwards of going.

Thanks for your opinions, i look forward to hearing some feedback hopefully.

Neither one will get you a job without prior experiance. It is best for guys that have a job and want to get more training.

If I were you, I would get any job in the industry first and then try to mocve up by getting training and then maybe the school.

"What would actually benefit an MMI student (or other trade school) best would be to get a feel for that type of work before going to MMI. Start out sweeping floors or washing bikes just to get in the door and see if it is even something that remotely interests them. If they have an inkling of how things in school will relate to what goes on in the shop they will be miles ahead.

The one local MMI guy who I consider to have been a standout is now (and has been for a good while)an insurance adjuster! Works on bikes an a hobby now since he found out there isn't much to be made at the local dealerships. He was an extremely sharp guy before he went and had worked in motorcycling several years as well. He learned a lot and took shit tons of notes. "

I pissed a few people off with some of the comments I had about trade schools, but here is the link anyway. Not trying to start a shitfest again or anything.

Thanks guys, i appreciative you two stepping up to the plate. It means a bunch to even get these sorts of opinions. that's the same sort of response I've been hearing lately, so i'm just trying to accumulate an average answer.

Not sure how old you are (actually you are never to old for college) but if you are interested in MMI it means you have some mechanical ability. I recommend going to college for mechanical engineering. You can bypass working as a mechanic and go straight to working for one of the manufacturers. I went to work for Yamaha right out of college in the R&D dept...while I am not there anymore, I am working for a much bigger company, GE, still with gas engines..I still love wrenching on shit, but prefer the salary that goes with an engineering degree....just my two cents...

Thanks Brad, that's some of the most helpful information i have received yet. It really helps, i appreciate the 2 cents. they're worth about 25 cents to me right now, so that's greater than most of the other people rapping to me on the phone from Wyotech and MMi lately... Lol, thanks again. Glad to hear you're doing well.

Whatever you do, do not let the school talk you into doing anything. Make that choice on your own and make it an educated choice. I never had a chance to go to a school such as UTI and a walk through that facility blows me away. Loads of high end equipment and an amazing facility. Someone with a little knowledge of collision repair could learn a lot there. Someone with little to no knowledge.....well, the ones I've gotten hadn't learned much of anything. Damn shame.
