I think his wrist is what the problem is. Remember he broke the same bone that ended RJ's career. James has never been the same rider since that injury. Sure the competition has stepped it up, and almost everyone can "scrub" now. But the James that used to ride a Kaw is long gone....PROVE ME WRONG JAMES!

Or maybe it's the knee he said he hurt last weekend?

......or maybe he's just washed up, has no desire to race as hard as he needs to and milked Suzuki for one last check. Prove me wrong James.

His gear looked good last night.

Maybe his window has passed and the new wave of riders are showing their faces and that the rest of the field has lifted their game while he has been sitting on the couch.

Hurt knee, proved he is still fast in practice and looked like he was taking it easy in the race.

He said in his post race video that he has not rode all week, his knee was really sore, he was cold and will be a different rider next week at A2.

He still knocked off four moto wins at the beginning of the Nationals last. Year. I think it is many of the reasons listed above.

James is still a top notch rider. I think he can still win on any given night based on tallent. I dont think he trains as hard as he used to................ when he came out of his heat race last night he was dropping his arms off the bars to his side as he was going back to the pits almost like he was trying to shake off arm pump.
I still dont buy the knee thing that its an excuse that is slowing him down. Over time crashes and injurys and age just naturally "de-tune" you from being as fast as you once were. James is just in a field of riders that are now his equal.

Does that mean Villopoto is washed up too? Both Stewart and Villopoto are tied in points. I would say he is putting in a damn good effort with a knee injury. I think Stewart did pretty good considering he is hurt.

It's the bike ! He should have stayed with Yamaha ! At least he was a contender for top 5 then ! now he barely makes top 10 !

Villopoto passes people. James gets passed by people, including Villopoto.

Which ones paycheck would you rather pay based on results from the last two years?

Maybe its just hurt and weak, and he doesn't want to screw it up worse. Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.

What's with these guys not just coming out and being like, "Yeah I have a partial ACL tear, but I'm just going to do what I can." or "It's just hurting really bad right now because I sprained [Ligament X], but I should be good in a couple more weeks"

Everyone can respect that. Injuries happen. No need to let everyone speculate.

He [and his "people"] derailed his career with poor decisions and is now hampered by physical problems and mental issues.

People are funny. I'd guess it's his knee, since he told us it was.
Tied with 'Poto in points, Job well done.
Smartest James I've seen....

I agree with you. I think James OWES it to you to prove that it is actually his knee. Who the hell does he think he is anyway??

I think JS7 finally have decided that you can't just enter a race and win after all these seasons he havent finished.
So he's gonne focus on staying healthy and finish the season!

10 minutes studying self image and imprinting....out of the question for most I guess.

And that whole Bubba's world was clearly an excellent idea.

As others said the ACL is probably gone. That would explain alot.

The new standard of health care courtesy of the affordable care act. Start a thread on Vital with your ailments and your sure to find out what's wrong with you by the 20th post. Hell, you may even find out things wrong with you that you never knew. Smile
In reality, 2 problems, 1 his knee hurts, 2 his competition is F'ing fast. In years past a hurt James was still faster then the healthy field.

Pretty obvious he can take the pain and push for one super fast lap but not for anymore than that. He must be bummed out knowing he could be battling for wins based on his fast qualifying time. Its probably the most cautious he has ever ridden, you can see it especially in that sandy right turn from last night, there is no aggression at all in his riding that we have become used to seeing for so many years.

Perhaps the grind of a 10 year career is taking its toll. The training, the travel, the injuries, and the endless scrutinization would wear down the most battle-hardened racer (with apologies to RC).

10 years ago it was fun. Now it's a job. James does not have the maniacal focus of a Carmichael, nor is he content to simply ride for a contract like other senior guys. The bar is set very high for James, both personally and among the fans. The vast majority of people do not have the fortitude to weather that kind of storm for a decade. James has performed admirably, even if the results don't reflect it. If he hung up his boots tomorrow, I would not blame him one bit.

he's injured.duh.
even when he makes a statement with a fast hot lap in practice to put the fucktards at ease, they still feel he is washed up.
damage control mode in main is not good enough for many peoples standards i guess.

When asked last night on national TV what was wrong with knee, he wouldn't answer the question's asked. I find that strange and not good for his image? Any other sport injuries are not a secret?
