I need to buy new skis, I am going to free ride most of the time. I am ok but no pro. People have recommended two different skis, what should I buy, any recommendations regarding these two or any other recommendations in the same range?

Dynastar Outland 80 pro
or
Völkl RTM

Where I live they allow you to demo skis before you decide. So basically you get to rent them, and decide on which pair you prefer.

If they allow that where you live I'd suggest that route.

Thanks I´ll look into the K2 skis as well. I´ll look into to the demo thing, but I live in the city, so they do not have much of a demo thing going here.

You need to talk to a pro at the ski shop at the resort. Tell them what your skill level is, and what type of skiing you'll be doing. you ski bumps, or groomed slopes...That kind of thing. Brands are going to be opinions. like bikes...pick a color you like and go with it. What you need to know is type and length of ski.

I'd go to the resort, and start trying skis. they'll let you try them if they think they'll be selling you a pair.

I will be using them twice a week starting in a few days, so I do not have time to go to a resort, the advice from the pros are Dynastar Outland or Völkl RTM, I am going now to buy a set, I think I will chose the cheapest of the two Smile since they seem equal. Will also check out the K2 option, maybe as good but even cheaper?

If you are a big dude look into Austrian/Swiss skis, they are usually stiffer and hold a better edge, flutter less at high speed and are torsionally stiffer too. I'm a big guy(6'1/200lbs) and I'm going back to skiing after 20 years of snowboarding. If you are tiny the Frenchy stuff will work great for you. I ski raced as a teen in all 4 events(DH,SG,GS,SL) and found the french and some of the "Yo-Yo Gangster" USA skis junk at the speeds I liked to ski @ when i demo'd a few sets this and last year. Also you will need to buy the correct ski for the terrain too. If you not into riding park/pipe/fakie perhaps go for a more traditional ski, and if you mostly ride hardpack stay away from really wide rocker'd skis.
Most of my buddies that are rippers have like 3 sets in their quiver. Also if you live in and area that gets off and on big snow dumps I would look for 2 pairs, as powder skis are night and day better than all mountain in the deep stuff.

Snowboarding was so much simpler, I ride a 163 mid-wide Never Summer premier for everything and it works great....for skis I'm gonna have to spend thousands of $$$$ to quench my tastes...

I bought the Dynastar Outland 80 Pro. Boots: Lange XT 120. They said Völkl RTM were stiffer and better but they were like 350 dollars more, so I picked the cheap alternative. They very much recommended Nordica skies and I asked about K2, but they said they were not as good. Thanks for you tips and advice, too bad I was in such a rush, might have made a different choice if I had more time.

I demo'd a set of Völkl Mantra skis last year and they were incredible.
