Anyone have any experience with tinted lenses? I have always used clear ones until now, except for a dark grey one that I used in very bright conditions. Basically I'm looking for two lenses for these situations:

-Wintertime in Europe. The tracks are overcast at all times, and most of the time, the dirt (or sand I should say) is super dark, nearly black. Obviously I'd like something to brighten things up and show more vivid colours and more contrast.

-Summertime, late in the afternoon when the sun is pretty low, directly in your eyes, and the dirt is super bright. Can't see shit captain.

I am using Oakley Crowbar, Proven and O-frame goggles. (mostly Proven).

Thanks.

Run blue lenses to amplify the light. I sometimes run those at lighted nighttime tracks or in really dark, cloudy conditions. This might be a perfect solution for you.
For really bright days, especially when there are standing water puddles, I like mirrored lenses of any variation. Oakley makes several versions if I remember correctly.

Rock on, man! How's that gear treating you?

Thanks for the help bud!

I'll look into some blue and mirrored lenses. If i remember correctly, when they held the Lakewood National at night, a lot of the pros were running yellow lenses, although i can't really figure out which oakley lens that would be.

The One Defcon gear is BY FAR the best gear I have ever had. I used to swear by Thor Core/Flux but the Defcon blows it away on all fronts. I am planning my next trip over for september or october of next year and I am already saving up the bring home a bunch of '14 gear, haha!

Look me up when you come over!

As for the yellow lenses, they do about what blue does, at least to my eyes - both colors cut down contrast. That way, you can see into the shadows a little better. Once your eyes adjust, the overall sensation is that there is more light to see with. Yellow simply shifts the light toward the red end of the spectrum, and blue shifts toward UV. There are probably some optical geniuses on here who can explain/ recommend better than I. In fact, the guys at Oakley would be a great resource if you can get hold of anyone over there.

personally i am not a fan of blue in darker conditions. i really liked the yellow when its overcast. for the most part i have just ran clear and havent really had a problem with it. when things are extremely bright, a dark grey/mirrored lens works very well as well. i have also had good luck with the light sensitive lenses. i use the scott no sweats and high voltage goggles. good luck!

For dark conditions I've run a Scott goggle with a orange lense. They work great!!! I tried yellow lenses 1 time at a night track and I bet I ran over every hay bale around the track. Yellow lense & yellow hay bales is not a good combo!!!!!

I think that it is personal preference but I do like yellow in low light conditions. cheaptearoffs.com has great prices on lenses and tear offs. Plus, the guy is cool and post here pretty often.

Try VR28 or Persimmon. They help make ruts more visible especially in shadows, like when the sun is in front of you and the track is in the shadow of a jump or berm and tough to see.

This is our new replacement Goggle-Shop motocross tear-off lens which we have developed for this situation. Blue tint with a multi-mirror.
In the Winter ''when its not raining in Europe' the sun can be very low and in your eyes.
The outside of the lens we have a multi layer mirror (this one we call Fire) and from the inside its a blue tint which enhances the dark track from the shadows of the low sun.
Just received the stock of this lens this week and available for to fit: Oakley O frame, Crowbar, Mayhem.
100%, Smith, Scott, Rip n Roll replacement lenses here next week and all other branded replacements January.
Price 12.00gbp / 18.00 dollars, But give use a email on shipping as very cheap to post to the USA. (especially on quantity.
