Knighter goes Red!

Edited Date/Time 11/4/2012 9:07am
Enduro legend, David Knight, has left KTM and for 2013 will form his own team aboard a 2013 Honda CRF450R.

Always fun when big names change teams. And with KTM inking phenom Jonny Walker to a new Factory deal I knew the Knighter would be heading elsewhere.

Good look to David on his new Honda.

Moto related?

I've never understood the problem with putting something like that here. Yes, it is moto related. Just as much so as the Moto 4 dvd is fine in this forum as it encompasses all things moto...MX, offroad, enduro.

I apologize but no one ever even looks at the offroad section so thought I would post it here as the Knighter is a legend of motorbikes.

Yeah, if David Knight isn't "moto related" then I'm not sure what is.

Mexico Fun Enduro Winner 2008
AMA Endurocross Champion 2007
FIM Indoor Enduro World Champion 2007/8
A4DE Champion 2007
3-time World Enduro Champion 2005,06,10
2nd place World Enduro Champion 2000/01/02/04
2-time Erzberg Extreme Winner
U.S. Red Bull Last Man Standing Winner 2005 and 2006
AMA Enduro Cross Champion 2005
ISDE Overall Winner 2005

Enduro21.com says E2 in the EWC and XGames Enduro X. And I've heard rumors of him possibly doing GNCC next year as well.

@star: of course this is moto related! just remember there are tons of Vitarded posts (and posters) that are better off just ignoring.

Will be very interesting to see Knighter on red, the guy is so amazingly talented and awesome to watch, no matter what discipline he is competing in.

His last venture away from KTM proved interesting to say the least. He signed with BMW with Juha and though Juha made strides David was frustrated to the point he left mid season. Then came back on a privateer Kawi.

The HM Hondas do pretty well in enduro proving that the CRF450R is a workhorse for al things moto. I'm just hoping he will enter some extreme events like he used to like Hell's Gate.

I wish Salminen never went to BMW. Though I don't blame him for seeking challenges. And challenges he got...

Yeah, they fund it all with their own money. It's not about support and contracts in any way,

Knighter leaving orange hurts a bit. Hope he takes a leak on his Honda, but I doubt it.

KTM is still a world wide, off road and MX (and God knows why, streetbike) plaaaaaaaayer.

You know I'm going to argue with you on who's the GOAT of Off Road. Tongue

Yeah, when Knight left BMW he actually bought a KX450f and had a friend of his work on it a bit won a GNCC on it and also a EWC round. I agree. For the record, though, I think the BMW G450X is a great bike for tight technical riding. Almost trials like. But some hated it, including GDR who are in NC and actually worked on the suspension for David. I have a friend who has one and I've wanted it for ages, though. But Knight struggled horribly on it and it took Juha while to get results as well.

And speaking of Juha,The Knighter is a legend but actually I would venture to say it is far and away Juha who is the GOAT of offroad. And Caselli in the States I would say. Truth be told, though, there's only only GOAT and that's RC4!

And though, Knight's credentials are from his web site they excluded his Tough One and Hell's Gate victories which are two of the most difficult races in the world.

I think Cervantes will be returning to KTM so I don't think it will hurt KTM. Knight didn't have a very good year this year.

And in the Hard Enduro market, the signing to the KTM Factory team of 21 year old Jonny Walker (Erzberg 2012 winner) who had actually been with KORR KTM sets them up with what will be the sports best for the next few years. Right now Graham Jarvis is still king but Walker is the rising star of that sport.

It will be cool to see Knight at XGames EnduroX!

True so true. But Kari then? Or Anders E but he only won 7 times that looser? Laughing He sold his fullblown factory BMW for nada zip shit!! No one registred that it was the real deal and one of a kind Anders throw it away for about 6500 dollar. Damn! If i only know he sold it. Think about it? One of the worst bikes in modern era. Together with a Ktm 250f -07 i had a complete museeum. Anders tested it rigorus whole year and changed/tested unbelivable many times. He send all results to factory. as the pro testrider he really is, he found good improvements even on that terrible bike. They hired Juha and NONE of Anders input was even noticed or used at all.....Juha had to start all over again. Problem was that Germans didn't do anything wrong and Anders probably wanted to change too much.Wink

Kari was a great champion and a pioneer for the Finnish riders. But I think Juha is more versatile and has been able to win on many different bikes in various classes. And i like his humble no nonsense personality more.

I actually don't think anyone should be called GOAT. There will always be someone better.

Kawaski had the biggest payout for a single GNCC win that year. Its was a given what bike he was going to ride. He left BMW caught a plane and took some of Kawasaki's money. Besides Bart Hayes actually bought the bike.

Us Vitards know EXACTLY who you're talking about: Moto
