Yesterday I tested my new cooling vest for the first time in a race siituation. I search for a long time to find out what would be the best way to stay cool while raceing. There are a few options out there. Most use ice packs. These are no good for us. To cold at the start. You can actually get frost bite on your skin. Also they melt to quick. There is evaporating vests but if its humid there not very effective. What I tried was a vest with 4 gel inserts made of some natural material that stays 58 degrees for 2 hours. You put them into the fridge or ice water and in a hour or so they are hard. Then I took them out about a half hour before the moto and they started to melt and get pliable. It turns into jell as they melt. They always stay at 58 degrees. the vest has enough padding to act as a roost protecter under your jersey. I also got the hard hat cooler and mounted it into my helmet. The results were amazing. Waiting on the starting gate I was so comfortable. during the race I never felt hot at all. Now the down side is they are a little heavy if you run all the inserts. 4lbs ish. But ill tell you once on I never noticed the weight at all. I have not tested them for 35 minutes yet. But 15 minutes of racing and the jell isn't even close to thawd out completely. These things are amzing I can't believe I raced all these years suffering threw the heat. Hopefully we get people trying and perfecting these devices.

Sorry forgot the web address to the one I tried. There are several companies that make vests and tshirts with these new gel inserts but this is the one I tried. Got it on ebay pretty cheap that's why I tried this one. Www.techniche-intl.com

A similar item i have found is the GelCool helmet coolers. They are used by military personnel in Iraq and by football players, but they also have a model designed to go into NASCAR pit crew helemts, which are basically moto helmets. I like your idea @crfby but the vest idea just seems like it would impede airflow to your chest too much. Your body NEEDS that airflow to cool itself off. The helmet on the other hand, is fair game because it impedes airflow already, why not make it cooler? Anyway check this out and see what you think, the only problem with these in AMA Pro is that they are designed to go in the exact same spot that the ShockDoctor Eject system goes. Maybe they could be modified to go on the sides...

Please disregard this post. TJS5701 is a representative from the CoolVest company trying to steer customers his way.

The vest reviewed by crfby was a TechNiche Vest found at www.techniche-intl.com

I am sorry to bring up such an old post but TJS5701 is giving out false information on our product line.

Can we have this topic closed due to SPAM?

Thank you,
