Scrubbing scrubs

Edited Date/Time 1/27/2012 12:18pm
I am about to head out to practice and for some reason I have noticed a phenomenon: it is people who are not going fast enough to scrub but think they need to. The result: very odd body position, usually goonesque, and all the thought about scrubbing usually slows them down. I see people attempting scrubs when there is just no need to.

It seems to be the equivalent of leaning to the inside of the car when driving. You know, something cool people do.

have any of you witnessed the non scrub?

See it all the time but hey some people would rather look fast than go fast. You can do a lot more for yourself by learning good throttle control.

Yup I see alot of that...Kids at the local track try so hard to look fast that it looks almost like theyre gooning but its obviousthat theyre not: Whipping and sticking a foot out on small tables but not clearing the jump, sticking their foot straight out far before a turn, over revving in mid air when not needed etc...Whistling Huh

I like it when they scrub and then coast for 50 ft before hitting the brakes for a turn.

Scrubbing seems to be the bench mark for a "bad ass" rider. I see the same stuff at the track all of the time. From the flip side though: I guess if they don't try they'll never be able to do it when it actually needs to be done...

I can't scrub at all and am far from being "bad ass". I have to try hard enough not to swap on accident, let alone make the bike go side ways, lol..
