I met Gary Bowman when I moved to Bakerfield after I blew my knee out with my Scott boots, at Saddleback. Great guy. We rode at a local riding spot, a sandy practice track near Stockdale Highway. He was fast! He just always kept it pinned through the whoops and around the whole track! It was fun to watch. We also rode a hard packed track East of town in the oil fields. He had a Suzuki support ride #521 and sponsored by O'neal. I even got ride with him at Hannaha's practice track in the Tehachapi Mountains (Hannah wasn't there). His friend Gary Curtis was fast as hell, too. If I remember right, Bowman got 3rd at the 1984 Saddleback National 125cc class with Johnny O' and Ward. Gary got me riding road bicycles to fix my kness. He still might have an Asphault Co. in Bakersfield.
