Have you guys tried this game yet? I was skeptical after reading reviews mainly because they made it out to be VERY difficult. That said, all the reviews I read gave it very good scores.

I decided to buy it last week and have played it non-stop. The career mode is by far the best career mode for any racing game i've ever played. I love the practice, qualify, race aspect and the gameplay is just bad ass.

Here's a few awesome aspects in my opinion:

-Weather effects are amazing. If you are out front or a gap between you and the guy ahead, the rain still affects you. If you are buried in the pack, it is insanely hard to see. The mist from the cars is amazingly done.

-changing tires in the paddock feels very hands-on. you can feel the difference driving between the two dry tire choices, and you can definitely see the difference in your times. also, the adjustments you can make to your car make a big difference.

-AI is TOUGH. I am currently doing a Short Weekend (1 hour practice, 15 minutes qualifying, 12 laps races) and it is tough to get the best times in qualifying and even tougher to win races. The AI act like real drivers, if you are clearly faster they will yield and let you pass, but they will also be very smart when trying to overtake you. Winning is very satisfying.

-I bought a steering wheel and built my own stand for it and it feels very realistic. If you try with the thumbstick, it is very tricky but doable.

just wanted to give you guys a heads up. i love Forza and realistic racing games and this one is my favorite so far.

I had F1 2010 and loved it, but didn't buy 2011 in the end because it seemed as though it would be pretty much the same, and it looked quite hard, as if you had to have a good knowledge of stuff like DRS, KERS to be good... However, i am starting to consider buying it again...

the DRS and KERS systems are pretty awesome.

kind of daunting at first, but you really only get to use DRS in practice and qualifying. you can use it in the race too if you are close to an opponent. and KERS i usually only hit if i mess up a corner and have no speed or coming down the finish straight you can pick up a few extra mph.

i played 10 and it was a great game, but i just played it at a friends so I couldn't tell you all the differences. 11 is worth picking up i would say. not sure how 10 was in the career mode, but in 11 you are not required by your team to win races or the championship, i thought that was pretty cool as it's more of a 5 year goal. and the constructors championship is pretty rad too

the game is badass. but the in between stuff feels really slow to me. maybe im doing something wrong, but getting from practice, to qualifying, to racing then back to choose next event takes sooo long.

thats my only complaint about the game.

whats really cool is playing the track that the real race is on, then watching the race. soo spot on.

i did a 29 lap (50%) race last night at Spain, man, that was a tough ordeal. it was a back and forth ordeal with pit strategy, tire changes, and everything else. i was in first by 3 seconds on lap 27 and spun out. got going and entered the track un-safe and was docked some positions. ended up finishing 6th after starting 3rd on the grid. i have to say it was the most intense and satisfying race i've ever done on any game.

also, if i was in one of those badass RedBull cars i could have easily won on speed alone. Vettel was behind me the whole time and would close right up on me on every long straight.

it's cool that there is so much more strategy to finishing well than just pinning it like a moto game

I have to agree.
I bought this game about a month back as I was hanging out for a decent career mode game.
and as a substitute to the mud game i was going to buy.

It has been in my tray ever since and im loving it.
loving the difference in engine sounds too, i prefer the cosworth's sound most, sounds great when you get
aggressive around monaco or singapore.
today i had a race on melbourne weather was perfect clear but a car in front had and engine problem and from the smoke
the visibility was as bad as heavy rain.i couldnt even catch him to pass him.!

best racing game i bought in ages, had some good battles online too and with a bit more practice
i know i can get even more out of it , so im a fan of this for sure.
and does make a change from hammering out laps on alive or reflex.

Hmmm might have to pick it up, I'm halfway thru a 2nd season on f1 2010 but there's not much motivation left. I have a cockpit for rfactor and gt5 but I might dust it off and see how it goes, always thought f1 was a little arcadey and needed the quicker response of a controller.

I was holding off until f1 2012 comes out in sept....

Downloaded the demo , really cool game but it is a challenge for sure . The funniest was getting my girlfriend to try and make a lap with all the assists turned off.

i'll take a picture of it tonight and have it online by tomorrow.

it's a wood stand and holds the pedal base and everything, fully adjustable. it's titties for what i spent ($20)

here's mine that i built. it cost around $20 for the lumber and attachments. i used a drill, chop saw, and miscellaneous bolts, screws, and nuts.
i may be able to dig up the instructions again, i found the design online and modified it to fit my needs.

the really cool thing about it, is that it folds up like a folding chair in seconds for storage. the only thing i would do is add some weight to the pedal-base. sometimes when i get really aggressive, i can pull it around. but it's not a big deal.

yeah man it's pretty bad ass, works great. that game is near impossible to play with a controller so the wheel is perfect.

total nerd move, but me and my buddy built us both a stand and bring his TV to my place and play LAN races all the time. it's a shit load of fun.

My wife got F1 2012 for me for Christmas. I can see a new obsession on the horizon. I'll echo everything peelout said in his original post. I'm on "beginner" career mode and it is incredibly difficult...but in a fun way. I rarely qualify beyond the back row, and (until last night) my highest finish was a 14th. I started out turning all of the assists off, with the exception of traction control. I haven't delved into custom car setups as I've only been playing it a couple of days, but I can see that the cars are infinitely tune-able.

I'm playing on the analog controller right now, but I'm already shopping for a steering wheel/controls. Great game, and I can't wait till I get comfortable enough to do some online racing. I highly recommend this bad-boy.

Oh, if there was a only a moto game with this level of realism...
