Hi, I want to get a Dirt Bike for the spring but i am afraid i might be too short for a full size bike. i am 5'9 and i know how to ride, i own a 600cc sport bike and i have no problem touching the ground with both feet but the dirt bikes seem to be taller. Can you guys give me some advice on what to do? Anything you guys can think of will be appreciated.

The man who has won more professional motocross races than anyone in U.S. history is 3 inches shorter than you.

You are not too short for a full size bike, I am only 5'5 and have a crf450 sprung for my weight(150) and it is fine.

All you need are Gene Simmons boots.

You don't want to lower the bike.

If you want you can have some of the seat foam shaved down and that will lower the height just a little bit without effecting the way the bike handles.

We did that when my son was moving to the 85cc bike.

kind of related, i have a question about seat heights:

is there much of a diference between the brands?

on the online specs i've noticed for example, the YZs being around 990mm and the Suzukis being 950mm but i'm thinking it might be due to diferent measures (yz without sag and suzuki with sag?)

or is there really a diference of 4 cm?

Bikes can vary a little, but not much. You are plenty tall enough, your taller than me and most of my friends.
