Why do they start with the compressed front suspension at the start?

Does it help acceleration/Traction?

Does it help the front tire have more weight distribution for the first corner?

Is it automatically reset or does the rider have a lever, button?

What's the correct name of that device?

I know I'm going to ruin the fun here, but for the sake of not seeing this thread turn into a 10 pager of sarcastic and worthless responses, I'm going to go ahead and actually answer this.

They compress the front forks so that the front end stays lower, therefore reducing the chances of doing a wheely off the start. If you wheely, you have to back off the gas so you don't loop out. If your front end stays low, you can just keep the throttle tapped.

It doesn't do anything for the first turn, just the straight.

When you see the mechanic staring at the fork guard before the race, and the rider bouncing up and down like an idiot, that would be them trying to lock it into place.

It's called a "Holeshot device."
