why do so many people still think james is superior to the others?

There was a drop off in competition between RC retiring and RV/RD/TC coming through. A weak period. Stewart snuck a couple of championships in during that time and even went 24/0 against Tim Ferry outdoors.

Now we are getting back into a strong era and Stewart is being exposed as weak mentally and a serial crasher. He can scrub pretty good and throw some whips but against a mentally strong racer he will never win over the course of a championship season.

Reminds me of Tyson in the late eighties, looked invincible against journeymen until strong guys like Lewis and Holyfield stood up to him and refused to be intimidated, then we saw how over-rated he was. He still won some fights (and Stewart will win some races), but essentially it was over at that point as it is for Stewart now. He's cashing in at the end of a good career, good luck to him but let's drop the FMOTP tag huh?

As far as I'm concerned- the others have caught james up and can run him pace/ faster- and consistently! In my opinion it's hurt stewart that he hasnt raced the outdoors for a few years- just look at how much chad reed has improved as a rider by racing outdoors! I hope I'm wrong, but I can't see James racing the outdoors this year- and probably not at all after this season. He will go to car racing- he can't handle not being the dominant force.

The 'fastest man on the planet' tag annoys me a little bit- that has to be RV at the moment!

I can't help but think of Mike Tyson when I think about James Stewart. Obviously not as mental as Iron Mike, but that lack of focus is there for sure.

Farang, I had the same feeling as you. Great minds think alike.

Mind you I think Tyson at his best would have destroyed both Holyfield and Lewis and I am/was a big Holyfield fan. At his best Mike Tyson reminds me of James Stewart at his best.

Once the confidence guys with guys like Stewart and Tyson then it's goodnight.

1st race of the season on 1 line, very slow track, I believe most of the top 450 riders said they were stuck in 2nd gear the whole race and said you need the holeshot to win on that track. So I cant draw any conclusions other than Ryan is still riding awesome. In the first race of a 17 race series guys are not pushing 110% balls to the wall. I heard advice given to a few riders by teams like "ride consistent laps" "avoid the carnage its a long season" "ride smart". I heard race winner Villipoto say on the broadcast yesterday...."If situation presents itself he would go for win but not do anything stupid, championship cant be won in first race of season but could be lost"

If i was on Stewarts team, I would put "SLOW DOWN" on his pitboard once in a while, especially when he is out front and pulling away 2 sec a lap. He has thrown a few away because he was going to fast.

everyone circulated the track in 2nd gear.

RV alternated between 3rd and 5th.

Here's an idea, start another thread talking about the same thing that has already been talked about in a hundred other threads. How's about you read some other threads instead of starting your own new one ace?

James is racing for a championship. For most of the race he was content with a 4th place finish. It shows that JS has the mentality to back down and settle into championship mode. On a SX track RV and JS are the two dominant riders. That makes him superior to 18 other riders.

You're right, I must be mad to see any similarities in those two sporting careers.
