Here is a link to my entry for the GoPro/RacerX contest:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PyROwVVBeDI
I wanted to thank RacerX and GoPro, together with the other contest sponsors - Answer, MSR and ProTaper, for the great initiative. It motivated me and my friends to make our first MX video and we had a lot of fun in the process.
Although we didn't make the cut for the 8 semi-finalists, I just wanted to share with everyone our video.
Best,
Andre

However, the contest rules mentioned that "Also, it is NOT required to include GoPro camera footage in your submissions. You’re certainly free to, but it is not mandatory."
I certainly think a GoPro would have helped us, but I don't think the lack of it put us at a disadvantage.
The track is really nice and the best part is that it's only about 25 min from my house.
It belongs to a friend of mine (Cassio) and he really puts a lot of effort into track prep.

The track is a lot of fun. Some nice, but safe tabletops, and a great layout with some excellent turns.
It's located in Brazil, about an hour from a city called Belo Horizonte.
On a side note, I was a little bummed that my video didn't make the cut to semi-final, but after watching the two semi-finalists posted on RacerX, I realized that we never had much of a chance.
Both look very professional, in terms of filming and editing, have top AMA pros such as Barcia, Davallos, Durham and were filmed at well known American tracks like MTF, Barcia's track and etc.
On the other hand, our entry had amateurish filming and editing, featured two slow vet riders (myself and my friend Geraldo) and was filmed at an unknown track in the backwoods of South America using a small consumer camcorder and a Canon T3i.
No doubt, I should have been more realistic with my expectations...
P.S You guys aren't slow! I hope i can be as "slow" as you guys soon.
Let me know next time you come to Brazil and if you come by Belo Horizonte I'll take you riding there.
We filmed after a couple of days of rain and the dirt was really great.
I wish it was always like that, but it can get really hardpack in the dry season.
I tried to do a couple of different things in the video, such as the stop motion (animation of still pictures) and getting a little creative on the scenes where my friend puts his gear on.
I'm glad you guys liked it!
