I am pretty sure that is the trade-off when setting up any two wheeled machine. Of course, one might claim that the Yamaha doesn't have a nice middle ground.

What kind of shit? It's been painfully obvious that his bike setup has left a lot to be desired. Should have asked McGrath how to set it up, he was pretty good on getting a Yamaha to work on straights and in turns. I seem to remember they didn't want his bike photographed in the pits without the handlebars/front end turned to the side. Other than shorter offset triples, were they trying to hide offset steering head bearings that changed up the rake? Make the bike turn super sharp with super stiff forks like Mc liked for attacking the jumps but run the rear suspension super soft so the rear would ride low under acceleration and remain stable at speed. Other that Reed, have we ever seen anyone look so smooth on a Yamaha ?
It was sarcasm....Blush

Have we seen any elite riders killing it on the NEW Yamaha outdoors.

Has anyone considered that maybe JS is tired of getting dragged through the proverbial mud every summer about not racing? Maybe he is the one wanting to ditch SM and not the other way around, in order to get some support that will cover the outdoors??

I'm sure when he's watching these 3 guys going at it out there, deep down he wishes he could be out there with them. He's a racer.

It'll be interesting for sure.

Phillippaerts, Frossard and De Dycker have all won overalls on one. They don't seem to be having a big problem getting them on the podium in Europe. Of course they also have no production rule so there's no telling what kind of one off parts are on the bikes.

He had a good start in moto 1 and not having much seat time his speed was off and he is still struggling with suspension set up. Moto 2 he had a mechanical failure. Husqvarna engineers are working hard to fix it....... he tests suspension in Italy Tuesday and Weds and should be better in Germany next weekend. Thanks for asking!

production rule in the u.s. is a joke, Reed's bike is more Factory than Bobryshev's, sorry but Americans can be so naive

I didnt even think about GP riders. It makes ya wonder if it is something with the frame and they cant hide the work in the US.

I've never seen a carbon fiber sub frame the way Yamaha had a few years ago. Nor have I seen a TM or Aprilia factory effort. Or a 350 with arguably more CC's boared out of it. Or a KTM 450 with EFI. Or a YZ250f with EFI. Or Roczen's RMZ250 last year with EFI. Yes. We Americans get everything.

That's a Honda World Motocross problem. Factory Monster Energy Yamaha in Europe puts more money in than Factory Yamaha here... oh wait, there is no Factory Yamaha team here. They only have enough Indian money for SX. Not a production rule problem. That Honda team has been all sorts of messed up in years past. Now they finally found a diamond in the rough with Bobby. He just needs about 5 minutes more endurance. Reed's bike is probably more trick because American Honda has more money to throw at it than the lackluster effort that Martin Honda/HWMX team has had the past few years. They have a Brazilian riding MX2 for them and he's lucky to get top 15. Is he there because Honda is such a big presence (title sponsor) of the Brazilian GP?

We have nothing to complain about though. We do have the best racing series in the world. Smile

I agree, but remember that the top guys in the USA have full works bikes, far from production IMO

If this is true that will be the end of his career.

Any chance these threads will end when his career does?

I don't know who you are, but I do know Big James, and I find it very unlikely he said that, especially to someone he either does not know or someone who would publicize it.

No no no, the production rule leveled the playing field and makes it so someone can compete on equal terms with anyone.

As long as they have the money.

Money = "equal" in Merica.

Get it n ow?

He looked god on the bike, i also think the bike is coming around on him. I was standing over by the end of the waves, even if he messed the waves up he was still able to do the big tabletop.

What bugs me about that Twitter post, is that he says "that championship" as in a specific one. I think it is safe to assume he's talking about supercross. So, what does that mean about outdoors?
