2 options

1 is called outside. i spent a good part of my youth there and try to go back there as much as possible.

2 is blankets and couch pillows.

there was a post on here a while back someone was trying to get funding to make a modular type plastic set but i dont know if he ever got all the funding he needed.

I know but it's black hard concrete dirt around my house so just wondering if sand or clay is good. There are some plastics but I like playing little ruts and kickers.

I was in the attic and I ran across this thing... Since I saw this thread the other day I figured i would post a pic. My mom probably made this for my brothers and I about 20 years ago. She also made me a Red Bud track but it didnt have any jumps or hills, just the track outline.

The track use to be completely outlined and there were start gates too, but it got a lot of use when we were younger.

My old man made one for my son out of foam he glued up and used a hot knife to carve out the track I believe, it has ruts in the corners and he then air brushed it and made tuff blocks and a working starting gate out of paperclips......pretty cool when you are retired and can screw around like that.

I always thought it would be cool to build one out of play doh or something. It would get the tracks in it and you could scoop up some ruts and berms and stuff, and after a few days it will harden up so you don't have to re-build it

It's rainy here so after watching Justin Hill on Moto5 my boys converted their old train table to a sand track. They were able to sneak the sand in the house in 5 gallon buckets. Wife wasn't happy. Now the hard part is keeping the cats from shitting in it.............

When I was little, I had the perfect blanket and would use all the socks I could get my hands on, do the layout of the track and put the blanket over the top. For tabletops, I would stack 3 or 4 VCR cassette tapes and put socks in front and behind them for sweet takeoffs and landings... Made some killer SX tracks!
The bikes I had were smaller than the die-cast/plastic ones of today and I had some little rubber dudes that fit them perfect.
Those were the days.Smile

Every time I drive by a Kmart I always think "Who the hell goes there any more, and how the hell do they stay open?". I guess people do go there...

I'm in to model railroading and I make mountains out of a home made cardboard weave covered in plaster paper and then filled in with a material called sculptamold. You could easily make a SX or MX track the same way. In fact, it would be real easy. That might be a cool project some day.

I would say just like a real mx track, clay would be better than sand. I like the idea of carved painted foam.I would go with dirt, that way kids could re create the track as many times as they want.

man so did I.. but mine was super old so what ever was inside it would bunch up on it's own accord so I'd throw it on the ground and spend the first few hours searching out the tracks.. Early freeriding I guess haha
but I tell my nephews now that have got those killer little bikes they sell these days I used to use bloody blocks of lego as bikes haha then I had a few other shitty 'bikes' all different sizes some looked like vintage bikes I even had two that were erasers shaped like bikes haha
I was probably playing on that later in my life than I should've been haha

A flower box is prime. My mom has 2 on each side of our deck and would let me use one fore mini tracks as a kid. standing the bed was at chest height and about 3ft wide and 7-8ft long. Absolutely epic as a kid and I wish I had some pictures, you guys would need new keyboards from the drool!!!!!!
