MotoPro Graphics Triple Crown Round 2: Argyll Mx
It was a chilly Northern California weekend on the horizon for all MotoPro Triple Crown riders that showed up for the second round of racing out at Argyll MX in Dixon CA. Just the weekend before most these riders were at Oatfield MX chasing the first ever Triple Crown trophies, and they were all here again, along with some new faces. Argyll MX has been a well know track in Northern CA since the 70's and the Sexton family has made it what it is today. The facility has a beautiful view of the Coastal mountain range and is surrounded by a picturesque landscape that can transport you to an earlier time. Moms and Dads formed a line to sign in as their little racers started to walk the track and get a sense for the layout. The track seems to sit lower than the surrounding area, hidden within the beautiful scenery, but with long fast strait aways, tight turns, step-ups, triples and long tables, a monster loomed ready to make each rider work for the fastest line and a win. Argyll's dark dirt is simply amazing, dug deep and formed quickly with practice getting under way, though it never seemed to dry out. The ruts were deep, but malleable and the faces of the jumps turned into blue concrete. As the stands filled and the races began to start we could only again appreciate what MotoPro Graphics has accomplished, along with all the support the sponsors, to be able to bring this many top caliber riders together for a Northern California racing series. There is a ton of talent in the North that always seems to fall in the shadow of the South, but not at this series. Every rider/parent that passes shouts "Northern California racing is back!!" and they are right. And this weekend Argyll was out to prove it with some all out motocross racing. From the kids to the pros, this is a professional event that demands attention and the fans never left the stands. Vendor row was hit by some harsh winds on Sunday, but it was no match for their dedication to the sport and the event. Sunday was again the big money day and the schedule put it as the last race and it did not disappoint. It was late in the day of a long weekend and the stands were still full to see the top pros battle it out and it was a fight to the finish. One could not have asked for a better race or a better end to an action packed weekend. As the checkered flag flew and the racers collected their winnings and trophies, every one was that much more excited for the final race of the series at Prairie City. Neither can we and we will see you there bright and early and ready to crown the victors!
