Legends & Heroes of Motocross Tour to Honor

1st World Supercross Champ, Jim Holley in Dallas!

March 30, 2011 ~  Merced, CA:
Jim Holley started riding dirt bikes at the age of 11 at a well known
Southern California motocross park called Indian Dunes back in 1972.
Although his racing career started as a young man, what launched him to
a new leave of racing was the guidance he received from his father,
James “Al” Holley.  Al Holley was a national flat track competitor
running the national # 23 plate during his racing career.   With his
years of experience, both off and on the track, Al put his knowledge to
work as Jim’s mechanic in 1976, winning the 80cc Mini National Champion
title.

In the early years of his career, Jim raced against
some well known young guys like Wayne Rainey and Jeff Ward.  By 1980,
Jim was on the Mugen Honda Team Racing in the Nationals on a 125cc
bike.  He raced in Panama, Japan, Australia, South Africa, Guatemala,
Indonesia, Canada, Costa Rica, India and all over Europe.   In 1985,
Jim was first World Supercross Champion and captured two Ultracross
Championships in 1988 & 1989.

Jim made his way to Hollywood as a moto stuntman after his career in
racing.  From the stories out there, he seems to have had some good
times doing so.  Movies like “Italian Job” and “Wild Hogs” are just a
few of those that are on his credit list.  For the Wild Hogs gig, Jim
was tasked with the job of teaching Ray Liotta how to ride!

What is Jim doing now?
In 2009, Jim returned to the sport of motocross as the voice of
Supercross.  He is an announcer at these indoor events, broadcasting
live on the Internet.  Supercross LIVE can be found at www.SupercrossOnline.com.

Congratulations Jim, for a life time of fun times, championships and a career moves within the sport of motorcycling.
