Suzuki City Race Recap – Toronto SX

Matt Goerke and Steven Clarke finish 7th and 15th north of the border

Round 7 – Eastern Regional AMA Supercross Lites Series

Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Rogers Centre

March 28, 2009

Biloxi, MS – Round seven of the 2009 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Eastern Regional AMA Supercross Lites Series took riders north of the border to Toronto, Canada, for the penultimate round of the series. Faced with a soft and rutted course, Suzuki City’s Matt Goerke and Steven Clarke both managed to qualify for the event, maintaining their top 10 positions in the series points.

Matt Goerke:

“Toronto went all right. I got a good start and was in second till [Branden] Jesseman knocked me off the track. I caught back up to fifth, and I went off the track again after [Matt] Lemoine hit me, and then I crashed. I don’t know, I was kind of bummed because I was up front and got a good start, but then that stuff happened. I had really good lap times, so I was feeling confident. It was kind of a surprise, especially since I didn’t ride all week. I hurt my spleen and my back at St. Louis, so I took the entire week off. I even had to go to the hospital afterwards.

“I want to get another good start and this time stay up front and hopefully get on the podium this weekend. I finally figured out my starts. I think I have the speed to win one.”

The next stop for the Suzuki City team is the Jacksonville Supercross on April 4, 2009, which marks the final round of the 2009 Eastern Regional Supercross Championship. For more information on the team, visit www.suzukionly.com.
