The AMA Supercross Series visited one of the biggest cities in motorsport racing this past Saturday night when it set up in Indianapolis at Indiana's RCA Dome. A stellar crowd came to see all the premier riders in the world, including none other than Star Racing/Yamaha’s blazing fast Aussie, Jake Moss. In only his second professional race Moss continued hone his skills stateside and early in the day set the 9th fastest Pre-qualifying time.
The gate dropped in Heat Race #2, seeing Moss stuck well in the back and even running into a group of already crashed riders. After getting back to a point of having the slightest chance to transfer on, his impatience got the best of him and once again he crashed. Qualifying hopes had been dashed, sending Moss to the LCQ. The LCQ got underway with Moss safely up front, where he cautiously rode on to a 2nd place which gave him a spot in the twenty two man field.
The Main Event took the track, with Moss near the 8th position, however by the end of lap one #82 found himself tangled up with a few other riders and sitting 20th. Moss was raging though, the very next lap he clipped off five spots, 15th. Relentlessly, the Yamaha pilot laid it all on the line, dodging some near disasters all the while passing up to 11th by halfway. That would be all he could muster given the circumstances finishing out a hard fought night in 11th.
The coming race weekend brings us to the all famed, tough Daytona circuit. The confidence is there for Jake, which should bring good things to he and his team.
