CORONA, Calif. (March 26, 2015) – Troy Lee Designs rider Cole Seely will head to the 13 th round of the Monster Energy Supercross series in St. Louis, Missouri this weekend on the heels of two consecutive podium finishes. As the rookie seems to have found his stride, Seely has been able to build upon many great moments throughout the season. We take a look back at some of those bright spots as he prepares for the lucky number 13 race.
First Podium
After getting off to a slow start at the opening two rounds, Seely posts a sixth at the second Anaheim race and a fifth in Oakland. He carried that momentum into Anaheim 3, where he collected his first podium of the season and the best 450SX finish of his career.
Top-10 Consistency
With 12 races complete, Seely has posted nine top-10 finishes. That isn’t something to take lightly in a class that boasts a deep field of talent, many of which are season veterans of the premier class.
A Hot Streak
Momentum, great starts, and confidence helped propel Seely into a constant challenger for podium finishes. He barely missed the podium in Daytona even after he tipped over and had to come back through the pack, and he’s been happily collecting podium trophies over the past two races in Indianapolis and Detroit. After a second and third, Seely has the speed and stamina to capture his first win.
Heat Races
While the Main Event is always the most important with valuable points at stake, Seely has shown his speed early in the night during the Heat Races of several occasions. He’s captured Heat Race wins in Phoenix, San Diego, and most recently in Detroit last weekend.
Climbing Up the Standings
Seely may have started the season slower than he wanted, but he’s come on strong and has made his way up to fourth in the championship standings. He has his eyes on the top three with five important races remaining.
