SX Series 2009, European Supercross Championship

Press Release

Count down!

It is time to count down for the beginning of SX SERIES 2009, the brand new edition of the European Supercross Championship

Just a couple of months and then the SX Series 2009 will start, beginning from France, with the two race-days in Marseille, then Bilbao (Spain) and Milan, to finish with Genoa SX. They are the traditional locations for the European Championship, very well known by riders and, above all, those following SX Series.

For the 2009 the main news will be the open capacity foreseen for SX1 class: from 250 cc. until 450cc. 4 strokes and from 125 cc. until 250cc. 2 strokes. At the same time, only 24 riders will be admitted at the evening phase of each single round, through some pre-qualifying sessions. The money prize (very high amounts for the first positions) will be divided into two finals (each final winner will take 2.500 euro), which are foreseen for each single round and both of the finals will give valid score for the overall classification. Such changes shall generate a more competitive approach at the championship races.

There will be also a new class, SX Rookie, reserved to riders holding a UEM or FIM Junior licence and with bikes having capacity 85cc. 2 strokes. This is a strategic effort aiming to develop top-quality European Supercross riders as well as to make their skills grow up in motocross competitions too.
