PanicREV Riders Throw Down at the Ranch

PanicREV’s Travis Baker and Vicki Golden bring home titles from the historic Loretta Lynn’s Dude Ranch

HACIENDA HEIGHTS, CA – Loretta Lynn’s is no doubt the largest amateur race of the year. The pressure at this event is thick enough to cut with a knife. Careers are made and broken at the Dude Ranch. Moreover, it is a great opportunity for teams to see how their riders respond to pressure. It also gives the riders that have been working hard all year a chance to showcase their potential.

Travis Baker has no doubt been working hard all year. Each national Travis’s speed has increased and he has been riding more and more consistently. That consistency paid off this year at the Ranch, where consistency really counts in the three moto format. The young Southern California rider did not win a moto in the MX Lites B Mod class; however, his consistent 3-2-2 moto finishes put him on top of the class. Baker took home his first Loretta Lynn’s title as he was crowned the MX Lites B Mod Champion. Moreover, Baker also brought home a fourth place finish in the Four Stroke Class; ironically, he won a moto but wasn’t quite as consistent with a 2-9-1.

One of the most exciting races of the week was the women’s 12+ class. This year with many of the Pro women competing at X-Games 14 the door was wide open for the amateurs to really go at it for a title. PanicREV’s Vicki Golden and Sara Price battled and fought hard all three motos. In moto 1 Vicki took the win and Sara fought hard for second. Moto 2 saw the two riders simply swap positions which set up the winner take all third moto. When the gate dropped for the third moto both riders got mediocre starts. Sayaka Kaneshiro took the early lead and began to check out. Price worked her way into third while Golden was charging in fourth. Sara made the move around Casaundra Regal to move into second and Golden charged around Regal to move into third soon thereafter. Going into the last lap Kaneshiro had checked out, but Golden and Price were going at it. When the checkered flag waved, it was Keneshiro taking the win and Golden moving into second place and capturing her first Loretta Lynn’s title! When asked how it feels to bring home the title Golden stated, “Every year I finish up near the top of my class; however, I am always overshadowed by the big names. Especially earlier this year; I got hurt at every amateur national. After my crash at Lake Whitney I realized that there is no way I can do this on my own. We, my family and I, decided to give Mike Craig a try and the first day working with him I noticed a huge difference in the way I was riding. After that I just kept getting faster. Also about a month or so ago Scott Parknson and Max Ladieu helped me accept God into my life and into my heart. I know that made a big difference this year too!”
