Female FMX star joins Carlton Dry Honda Thor Racing‏

Australia's female freestyle motocross luminary Emma McFerran has joined the Carlton Dry Honda Thor Racing team under a multi-year agreement that will see the 24-year-old assume a full program of events over the coming months.

McFerrran has taken possession of one of the team’s factory Honda CRF250’s and has returned to riding after nearly four months sidelined to recover from a wrist injury, sustained when she crashed during a demonstration jump earlier this year.

The Victorian, who has been developing her trick repertoire, will make her debut for the Carlton Dry Honda Thor Racing team during the four-round Australian Supercross Championship that commences in Dubbo on October 13.

As a full-time member of the championship winning team, McFerran will not only have access to Crew Chief Mike Landman and his team of mechanics, but will also work closely with riders Ben Townley and Ford Dale across a range of sponsor and media activities.

McFerran said she is looking forward to being able to focus on progressing her tricks and growing her profile as Australia’s leading female FMX rider.

"This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a dynamic and experienced team,” McFerran said. "I am back riding and feeling really good. I can’t wait to finally get out in public and do some shows.

“To have the technical support from the team allows me to focus on progressing my tricks, with the knowledge that my bike is fully prepared.

“I started my riding career racing Honda’s in motocross so it is great to be back on a product that I know and love,” McFerran concluded.

Tony Hinton of Honda Motorcycles said Emma’s inclusion further cemented the manufacturer’s ethos to nurture young talent.

“Emma is a great fit for Honda Motorcycles and a good role model for young women,” Hinton said.

“Women need to be supported in motorsports and we look forward to helping Emma progress in her chosen field of FMX.

“The team are working closely with Emma to develop a solid calendar of events and we are excited to confirm that she will make her public debut for Honda at the Australian Supercross Championship,” Hinton concluded.
