Mike Brown was gunning for a top-5 finish on his third and final weekend at the CMRC Motocross Nationals, and though he didn't quite reach that point, he still achieved what he set out to do in Canada – put the fun back into racing and reignite his intensity. "Brownie" had a good first moto at Deschambault – round 7 of the series in Quebec – and finished 7th, but a snapped chain in the second moto cost him a shot at a decent overall score.
Brown's day started off well at the sandy Deschambault course. Wet conditions in the morning left the track a little tacky and sloppy, but Mike qualified well aboard his FC 450 for a decent gate pick. Brown got out to a good start and held a solid 6th place for much of the first moto, and was picked off by Teddy Maier near the end to finish 7th. Brown got out to another good start in the second moto, and ran inside the top-10 for several laps before bad luck found him. A rock got caught in his chain guide and broke the chain. He was too far from the mechanics area to attempt a fix, so Brown pushed his bike back to the pits and called it a day.
With his 7-DNF score, Mike ended up 16th overall. Although it wasn't the finish he was looking for, Brown still called it a good weekend and admitted he had a lot of fun during his three-round Canadian Motocross tour.
"The last three weekends really made a difference in my summer," Brown commented. "I just love racing. I didn't get the opportunity to do the U.S. Nationals so I was glad I got to come to Canada. The way my season started off, with injuries (to my hand), this is what I needed to get the fun back into racing and put the fire back under me. I'm really looking forward to the rest of my AMA EnduroCross season."
"We are extremely happy with the attention of having Husqvarna at these three national rounds," said Husqvarna Canada Managing Director Florian Burguet. "Mike Brown really helped us put the Husky brand and the FC 450 on the map in Canada. We are heading toward a promising future for Husqvarna in professional motocross racing."
"I'd like to give a big thanks the Husqvarna Motorcycles dealers that supported me at these three rounds," Brown added. "Machine Racing in Ontario, Quad Expert in Ottawa and Equipment Les Chute in Quebec made it possible for me to be here. I hope I get another opportunity to race the Canadian MX Nationals because I really enjoyed myself."
