Can’t let a country bully everyone else because they have a nuclear arsenal. Ukraine is a sovereign state and is free to join NATO if they wish, they meet all criteria, and it’s approved by other NATO members.

Shocking. I’d never have guessed in a million years that you’d post a comment and not provide a single thing of substance to the conversation. Truly caught me off guard.

The substance? You are defending a war mongering administration who is poking the bear non stop and then pointing the finger saying I didn’t touch him. Speaking of substance, why don’t you provide some real substance and tell everyone why you created a new name after being booted?

ukraine joining nato is the very thing the American government agreed they would not allow with Russia. America then starts proxy war in Russia through Ukraine and gains another government to control and strong arm. How anyone can be for this is beyond me

Forget about the voting thing.

Do you think it's a good idea to say now that Ukraine will become part of NATO?

I was an advocate that they should have gotten rid of the caravan when it was stuck in the mud. When it was an easy fix. If the world was so afraid of stopping the war BEFORE it started, because Russia "has nukes". And now when Putin actually said if Ukraine joins NATO he's willing to use nukes. What changed on the fear of him using nukes that it's time to poke the bear? I just don't understand the steps this regime keeps taking that seem to drive the world closer to WWIII

What's the motivating factor here?

A dictator of what? His own country? Not our business. Funny that you see Russia as a dictatorship but not the US who strong arms all of Nato. Again, it really seems you are only seeing part of the puzzle and oblivious to the rest. Still going to avoid the screen name question? Not surprising yet again lol

Yeah, that’s a head-scratcher. Why would Blinken aggravate the situation with that comment?  Negotiations for a cease-fire/settlement continue, and circling back to one of Putin’s reasons for invading doesn’t make sense.

Guys like Blinken don’t make bold statements w/o a good reason. Possible Russian responses are extensively mapped out, and the State Dept has a wealth of predictive algorithms. Something’s afoot, but who knows what it is.

Just a guess … it’s a bargaining chip . It can be taken off the table later … something to be given up in possible future negotiations … ?

Anyone who thinks it's as simple as Ukraine being a sovereign state and should join NATO if they choose is grossly uninformed.

It is our business. Geopolitics and foreign policy impacts all of us in this day and age of globalism. I’m not sure how you and others don’t get that. You let Russia do this, they eye up someone else who might be a member of NATO. Then it is our problem and our men and women will go fight and die. China then eyes up Taiwan. North Korea eyes up South Korea. Ronald Reagan is rolling in his grave seeing what his party has become being so weak on Russia and other foreign dictators. Less than 3% of our military budget was completely crippling Russia. Now we stopped sending munitions and Russia is having gains for the first time in two years. How far the Republican Party has fallen.

I think what a lot of you don't take into account, when Trump was in office and pedal to the metal on oil production, the price per barrel was much lower. Russia depends on the price being higher for their economy to work. Had the price stayed low, Russia could not have afforded to start this. We effectively have financed Russia by helping raise the price of oil.

We are literally producing more oil now than we ever did under Trump. But don’t let facts get in the way of a good narrative.

Yet none of this would be an issue if DJT did not have the election stolen from him. Trump is respected by world leaders. Let’s put him back in office and stop all this chaos.

This is not the Republican party's doing. This goes back much further than that, and was accelerated under Obama with Hillary Clinton.

The best option for the world was for the USA, NATO, UK, Ukraine and Russia to have a treaty where Ukraine stays neutral.

But our defense contractors are always pushing for more customers, and the US government is always happy to help.

It is absolutely not our business.  Europe can fight their own wars.  No more money for any of this wasteful bullshit.

lol so stuck on red vs blue. Time to wake up, it isn’t red vs blue. It is the pentagon, it is large military corps, and then red AND blue do the bidding to pass the discretionary funds. Still dodging the question are we buttercup? Wonder why you won’t reply with who you used to be 😂

Back in 90`s USA, NATO, UK, Ukraine and Russia signed a treaty. Ukraine gave up nukes and was promised to never be attacked. As you can see it works very well.

Yep, you are correct. And the USA started going against it and other agreements (verbal or otherwise) that pushed things to this point.

If I understand correctly, Russia has access to very very few deep warm water ports, essentially only in the waters near Ukraine. Ukraine going NATO would be a big concern for Russia due to thar access.

Russia has also been invaded many times via the European Plain, which I believe Ukraine is part of. Ukraine going NATO only increases Russian fears of a invasion possibility.

Add to that the very real possibility of NATO countries bordering Russia getting medium range nukes parked in those countries. If that happen Russia may go beyond the boiling point.

The people of the USA want peace.

The US military Industrial complex, and a bipartisan cabal in our government most definitely want war - the more the better.
